DARK DOG (BARKING AT THE WORLD)

At the start of the year the universe was calling me to write a new set of poems. I let the ideas that I had sit with me for a while and then I set about writing out what would be the storyline into what the poems would fit. It seemed the work would involve written set pieces and poetry. I was all set to go and then...... THE WORLD SEEMED TO GO CRAZY! It became clear to me that I was not being called to write out MY idea but that I needed to report on what was happening in the world and how it was making me feel.

the BLACK dog is a term used to describe depression and it a dark dog. As I started this work we are in a very dark, depressing time in the world and I had to reflect on that. So this is me, the Dark dog, barking back at the world! This is very much a live piece of work as we turn through this year. I also have my reflections in here, on my own thoughts, feelings and life. This is my heart open and my soul on show for anyone to see. It is me being brave, I hope you enjoy!

30. STAYING TRUE (THE WORLD WILL NOT CHANGE ME)

I walk a path that I try to stay true to, while the world tries to pull me away

I think back to the days of my childhood when I was gripped by fear

So many things come back but when I try to hold the m to the light, they fade

I often wonder if I can only look forward, maybe that is the lesson here?

For now I have many things that I longed for then, maybe I don't appreciate that fact

I see that the grip has loosened as I follow my heart and desires

You are in this picture now and sometimes I fear the love, but I love deeply anyway!

I know that some of the world want us in the fire.... well I will love you anyway!

So as I walk this path of creation, passion, frustration and pain

I walk with my head high, I know these Gods well now.

I think of the people who walk with hatred so deep within

Somewhere in their story is the answer and the cure

I paint these pictures in my mind and I try to paint with words

I hope that they will  be heard

I know they are shaped to teach me

Then reshaped to meet a reader, finding new meaning in their names
