Never Forget

I thought that I could out run my past, I thought that I already had. Until my husband Tyler Chapman, Captain of the police force hauled in something I thought was nothing more than a bad memory, or the person that fueled my nightmares. Drew Teller. His look was enough to make me want to drop dead, I thought that I would never have to be upon his gaze ever again, It made me do things, brought out a part of me I killed and buried.

1. Fall Apart

"Mommy, can we leave yet?" TJ my three year old son asked me yanking on the bottom of my shirt. I finished putting all of the food into the lunch kit, and smiled down at him. He was so very clearly not Tyler's son, his face was almost identical to his real fathers. I to this day don't know what I would do without Tyler.

I strapped TJ into his car seat, and we started the driver to the police station. He was the Chief of Police in Burrick TX. We got out into the police station parking lot, and could hear the shouting and the sound of glass shattering from outside.

I know that I shouldn't be doing this, but something was pulling me towards the police station. "Stay behind mommy." I said kneeling down looking at TJ. I could tell that he was a little scared, but he put on a brave face.

We got closer, and closer to the front doors, and the noise had gotten louder, and the shouting became better understood.

"You don't know who I am, I am going to be walking out of here in 10 minutes, you better treat me with some more respect." A very angry man yelled from inside of the police station.

I walked in the front door. "Haylee keep TJ back we have a live one here." Tyler said chuckling a little. Suddenly the man stopped, and the entire room had gone quiet. "Haylee..?" The man said, and by now the voice was sending waves of shock throughout my body, and I couldn't move.

"Drew.." I said feeling like impending doom was coming for me.

He smiled a tad, and then went to charge at me, before he could even get close enough to me, Tyler tased him, and he dropped to the floor. I could see the veins popping out of his face, and his skin going red, but he never broke eye contact with me. I could feel his anger rush through me.

"Mommy!" TJ said walking out in front of me crying. I picked him up and pulled him in close.

"Mommy?" Drew said still trying to catch his breath, as he looked at TJ, I watched the lightbulb go off inside his head.

"That's my boy? That's why you left?" Drew said sounding less angry.

"This is not your son!" I shouted feeling the tears finally start to form in my eyes, and my voice start to break apart.

Tyler kicked Drew in the stomach. "Don't you ever talk to my fiancée or my Son ever again." He said getting in Drew's face.

He looked at me, and I could see the fear in his eyes, and I could feel the heart ache he was in from there. The tears were pouring down my face now, and there was no stopping them.

He walked over to me in front of everyone who was now staring at us. "That's TJ's dad?" He said sounding heart broken. I knew that Tyler wasn't an idiot, TJ was an exact replica of Drew. I nodded my head, and he looked away from me.

"You told me that he was some biker who walked out." He said sounding more and more like Drew.

"Don't talk to her like that!" Drew yelled struggling to get up.

"Chief I am thinking that you two need to go home and talk this out. We will handle this scum bag from here." One of the officers said.

"We are going home Haylee." Tyler said grabbing my arm pulling me out of the office.

There wasn't one word spoken the entire ride home, and then we got home, and Tyler took TJ and laid him down for a nap.

"I need you to tell me exactly what this is Haylee. You told me he was some scum bag but not the most untouchable douche bag in the United States. Do you have any idea who the fuck that man is?" He said sounding a little more calm than earlier. I could tell he was trying not to freak out.

"I know that scum bag better than any one else on this planet." I said not being able to look Tyler in the face.

"I need you to tell me everything." He said holding my hand. I took a deep breath, and closed my eyes.

"Ok." I said trying to organize my memories.
