I am, it’s for a very good lady friend of mine; this could get messy Ian. This is why I’m asking you.’

“No problem David, can she come in and see me tomorrow?’

 “Yes what time?’

Well I’m due in court at 2 p.m. could she come into my office at say 10 a.m. in the morning?’

“Yes no problem Ian, I will bring her along.’ Her name is Cassie Longmuir she’s thirty two.’

“Okay I will see her tomorrow.’

“Thanks Ian,’

“There you are, Ian Templeton has agreed to handle your divorce for you.’ He will make sure that your husband cannot harm you again. Knowing how thorough Ian is he will have a letter sent out to his house by Tuesday morning warning Longmuir if anything else should happen to you then he will be arrested.’

“Thank you David, I feel a little safer knowing that.’

“Now I don’t think that you are going to be chewing on solid food for a day or two so I’m going to knock us up a nice bowl of soup. It won’t take long.’

“Can I watch how you make it?’

“Of course come into the kitchen, I have my special gadget that I use.’

David took out a Kenwood Chef Blender and Chopper, it was the latest in technology as far as cooking went. It could make flour dough for fresh bread and mixture for cakes as well as chop up vegetables really fine to make soup with.

He washed all the vegetables that he had peeled using a peeler in what was a blur. Then he chopped them up into smaller pieces and fed them into the blender that chopped them all up. He had some stock already made which he emptied into a soup pot then added seasoning. He then chopped up some gammon and added that to the pot along with the vegetables. He brought it to a boil, before letting it simmer away.  Some fresh rosemary and some coriander were added, then some red lentils and pearl barley. In less than an hour the soup was ready.

“Now normally I would serve this with a crusty loaf, but I don’t think you could chew hard bread.’

“I could soften it by dipping it in my soup laughed Cassie holding her mouth with her hand.’

“I forgot that you liked to dunk your bread in your soup. This will taste far and away better tomorrow but for now you will at least be able to eat something to sustain you.’

“It’s so good to watch you at work in the kitchen; Sandy couldn’t boil an egg.’ He was absolutely hopeless in the kitchen.’

David brought down two soup bowls and ladled the soup into them then cut some bread that he’d made.

Can I offer you a glass of wine Cassie, I cannot join you though as I may have to work tonight; I’m on call.’

“No thanks my head is still spinning at the moment.’
