The story focuses on three families. The Kinnear's, The Millsap's, and the Owen's. All different. They live very different lifestyles. Albert Kinnear the Librarian, who's parents came from Swindon but live in Pinetree Gardens, his father Jack is an engineer. He is a keen gardener and Pigeon fancier. Albert meets the daughter of Charlie and Elizabeth Millsap. They live on Kenton Road, in a bought property. He also is a pigeon man who has wangled his way into a chairman's job. he is a welder down the docks. No one is good enough for their daughter and they resent the relationship between Laura and Albert. Then there is William Owen(Willick) a roofing builder who lives in Cedarwood Avenue with two son's and a daughter. Alan is a jack the lad; he will sleep with any woman given the chance. Harry the youngest is a joiner and the brains in the family. Evelyn his daughter is twenty five and her father is pushing her to meet a man and get married so he can have grandchildren.

That will be fine thank you.’ The waiter then opened the bottle and poured a little into a glass and let David sniff the bouquet; he gently swirled the liquid around the glass then tasted it.’

“That is perfect thank you.’

You didn’t tell me you were a wine connoisseur.’

 I’ve done a bit of travelling around Europe and you pick up a few things about food and wine.’

“I’m impressed.’

“Well since you are the expert, I’m going to bow to your better judgement David and let you order.’

David held out both hands and said okay.’

He picked up the menu and studied it for a moment then set it down.

“Now you can choose between these three starters depending on how hungry you are. There’s Watermelon and feta cheese, halloumi cheese with grilled Vegetables or a chefs special soup.

“I think I’ll go with the soup.’

Good choice they make a lovely broth here.

“Now are you a meat, fish, or poultry person?’

“I would have to say poultry.’

 “Now comes the big test, are you a traditional eater or do you like to experiment a little?’

Cassie looked at David then said “I like to experiment a little.’

“Trust me this dish is my absolute favourite.’ Chicken and prawn arrabbiata.’

David gave the waiter the order then he poured the wine.

“To friendship said David as he clinked Cassie’s glass.’

“I was wondering why you don’t drive Cassie, it must be a bind travelling by bus or train.’

“Sandy has the car, he drives it to work and leaves it at the base whilst they take him by helicopter to the rig out in the North Sea.’

So you can drive then?’

“Oh yes, I passed first time.’

“I thought so, a clever girl like you wouldn’t take long to learn.’

“I only had ten driving lesson’s.’

“Mind the instructor wanted me to take more. He was a dirty old letch, he kept looking at my legs and down my top. I felt really uncomfortable in the car with him. But I got a woman instructor on my test and she put me completely at ease.’

“Brilliant said David.’

The soup arrived and both David and Cassie picked up a napkin. David broke the wholemeal bun then spread some butter upon it.
