“He comes home and then hits the bottle of whiskey he too can be aggressive.’

“I see, you poor girl; it’s no life for you then is it.’

I’ve gotten used to it over the years, in fact I like it when he’s away, and it gives me a sense of freedom.’

“I don’t mean to be rude but is Sandy away at the moment?’

 “Yes, he left yesterday morning.’

“Look Cassie I know that we agreed to meet up next Wednesday but we have loads to catch up on.’ Would you do me the honour of having dinner with me tonight, I mean… I’m on my own and so are you and I like your company.’ No strings; just two friends having dinner and nice conversation.'

"Did you ever go out with Sandy for dinner?

yes we did in the beginning, then I was left on my own most of the time.'

"Did you not tell him."

"Yes,but it was pointless arguing with him, he only got aggressive with me.'

"I see.'

“I would like that David thank you.’

“So can I pick you up around seven?’

“That would be fine.’

“Do you have a preference on what cuisine you like?’

“No not at all; I’ll eat almost anything when I’m hungry.’

“I know this nice little restaurant on the coast. I can get a reservation for us tonight.’

“Good; I look forward to it.’

David turned off when he reached the bottom of beach road then drove to Whitley bay town centre.’

“You will have to direct me from here Cassie.’

It’s not much further actually; if you carry on past the bus station it’s on your left just past St Edward’s Boxing Club.

“So you like to watch boxing then?’

“Not particularly, mind I do like Muhammad Ali, I just see the young lads as they come out and go for their runs.’ David turned into Roxborough Terrace and Cassie told him where to stop. David got out and opened the door for her and then went into the boot and got her shopping out. He took it to her doorway and she took it from him then said she would see him later.

David waited until she went inside before pulling away.
