“I’m sorry  I didn’t mean to be so forward; it’s just that I’ve never asked a girl out on a date before and I’m a bit nervous.’

“You’re doing fine Albert, Yes, I will go out with you.’

“You will… When?’

“How about next Friday night?’

“Yes that will be great, where shall we meet?’

“How about here straight after work?’

“Yes, I finish at six thirty said Albert excitingly.’

“Okay I will meet you here at seven o’clock.’

“Do you know what is showing?’

“No but we will see as the bus swings around; the picture house is just over there.’

The bus pulled in at the station and Albert let Laura on first then asked if she wouldn’t mind if he sat next to her.

“Not at all said Laura.’

Albert sat next to the girl who had captivated him from the minute they met. His leg brushed against hers and he could feel the softness of her skin through the navy blue suit she was wearing.

When the conductress came around he paid her fare and she thanked him.’

So what do you do when you are not talking to young girls in a bus stop Albert?’

“Not a lot really; I’m a member of scout group in Billy Mill and we go camping and rambling in the country.

“That’s nice, I like the countryside.’

“Tomorrow we are going to Keswick.’

“Lovely,’ have you been before?’

“Yes, many times as a cub scout.’

“I bet you have all of your badges have you?’

Albert’s face reddened as he admitted that she was right.’

“Don’t think me forward again or anything but would you like to come with me tomorrow?’ The forecast is good so we should have a fine day.’ There will be fifteen boys going with us and two other leaders with their wives.

“Will there be enough room for all of us?

“Yes, the club has a mini bus.’

“Have you got rambling gear Laura?’

“Yes I have, some trousers, and hiking boots, and a cagoule.’
