“Are they here yet asked his mother?’

“No mam but I’ve got to go and pick up someone called Buzz from the airport; apparently he’s a family member who lives in Canada.’ Help yourselves to tea and coffee I’ll be back soon.’

Albert got into his sports car and drove away.

The flight had been smooth and they landed ahead of schedule because of a tail wind. Tim went to hire a mini bus from an Avis dealer. This time he got a ten seater which had more than enough room for all of them. They packed all the cases into the back then set off. It was twelve degree’s in Newcastle and pretty cold compared with Ibiza. The boys were fascinated as they looked out onto the road at the various houses and landmarks. They even spotted McDonalds which pleased them immensely. Bobby told them that there was one near to his father’s house which pleased them even more. They drove down the coast road then turned left at Billy Mill roundabout.

“Not far now said Laura.’

“Is that the school where you teach at Bob asked Tim?’

No, I will show you where I work on another day when we go to the beach. It’s called Marden Bridge High school.

“Oh great said the boys, can we play soccer?’

“We call it football here but yes, you can play.’

The Mini bus turned onto Kenton Road and Laura directed him to her house.

“Is this where you live Laura?’

“Yes it’s small I know but I like it.’

Albert’s parents came to the door and Laura introduced everyone. It came as a shock to them to find that Laura had a brother. They loved the garden and Conchetta said she would love a garden like that. Albert showed them the back garden and the small vegetable patch. He told Tim he kept pigeons on an allotment like his father.

“You will have to show us that said the boys,

“Would you like a drink asked Jackie to Tim and Conchetta.’

“A beer would be good.’

Looking in the fridge Jackie found some cold bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale and smiled.

He poured some for them both into a half pint glasses then poured out a can of Carlsberg lager for Conchetta.

Do you only drink halves here in Newcastle said Tim as he took the beer from Jackie?’

“Well I can pour you a pint if you’d like but we usually pour it into a half pint glass here in the North East.

“Tim tasted the brew then raised his eyebrows. Now that’s a good ale he said as he took a couple of swallows.’
