The story focuses on three families. The Kinnear's, The Millsap's, and the Owen's. All different. They live very different lifestyles. Albert Kinnear the Librarian, who's parents came from Swindon but live in Pinetree Gardens, his father Jack is an engineer. He is a keen gardener and Pigeon fancier. Albert meets the daughter of Charlie and Elizabeth Millsap. They live on Kenton Road, in a bought property. He also is a pigeon man who has wangled his way into a chairman's job. he is a welder down the docks. No one is good enough for their daughter and they resent the relationship between Laura and Albert. Then there is William Owen(Willick) a roofing builder who lives in Cedarwood Avenue with two son's and a daughter. Alan is a jack the lad; he will sleep with any woman given the chance. Harry the youngest is a joiner and the brains in the family. Evelyn his daughter is twenty five and her father is pushing her to meet a man and get married so he can have grandchildren.

Richard steel raised his hand and the crowd applauded. The photographers took their pictures that would appear in the Ring and Boxing illustrated magazines. He had now made it into the big time and better prize money would surely come his way. After being interviewed Anders Elkland who was watchin the fight said he would consider giving the young British lad a shot at the European title in April.

Norman Fawcett seized the opportunity to speak with Elkland’s Manager.

Michael warmed up in his dressing room He wore his blue and white Lonsdale trunks and the same dressing gown were the same as he wore when he won the European title. He chose to use black ten ounce gloves made by Everlast.

“His size eleven Lonsdale boxing boots were black with white laces and he shuffled and threw punches building up a sweat. He heard a cheer go up then the ring announcement so he knew his team mate had won. He was now ready to face his biggest challenge.’

Norman Fawcett and Dave Ritson had to run all the way back to the dressing room after the interview was over so they could get Michael greased up and ready. Former and current world champions were being introduced and they stepped under the ropes waved to the crowd then took their place along the ring apron. Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearn’s, and Marvin Haggler, were among those called. The last fighter to be called was the raging bull himself Jake LaMotte the former middleweight champion who defeated the great Sugar Ray Robinson. He received the biggest cheer of the night. Now in his seventies he took a bow then shook the hand of all the other great champions before they all left the ring.

“Now ladies and gentlemen we come to the main event of the evening. Fifteen rounds of boxing for the light heavyweight championship of the world.’ Introducing in the blue corner your challenger from London England “Magic Mickey Clements.” Michael stepped into the ring having walked up just as the champions were leaving the ring. They shook his hand and wished him luck then walked back to the other corner to speak with Fernandez.

“In your red corner from New York City; the undefeated light heavyweight champion of the world “Hector the Iron Man Fernandez.’ The crowd all cheered as Hector raised his arms then threw some fast punches into the air.

Michael Buffer read out each fighter’s record of achievements and the only thing worth mentioning for Michael was his ABA title win and the fact he’d represented England on twelve occasions winning them all before turning professional.

The record of Fernandez was certainly impressive as Michael Buffer read out his boxing CV.

“Both Fighters weighed in at 175 lbs. There was a slight pause as Shirley Bassey got into the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen the golden girl herself Miss Shirley Bassey will now sing the national anthem of Great Britain. Shirley did a fabulous job of singing the anthem and a generous round of applause went up. She shook hands with Michael and wished him luck then went over to Fernandez’s corner she went to shake his hand but he leaned across and kissed both cheeks. Ever the professional Shirley said nothing then stepped down as Whitney Houston sang the star spangled banner with the
