The story focuses on three families. The Kinnear's, The Millsap's, and the Owen's. All different. They live very different lifestyles. Albert meets the daughter of Charlie and Elizabeth Millsap. They live on Kenton Road, in a bought property. He also is a pigeon man who has wangled his way into a chairman's job. he is a welder down the docks. No one is good enough for their daughter and they resent the relationship between Laura and Albert. Then there is William Owen(Willick) a roofing builder who lives in Cedarwood Avenue with two son's and a daughter. Alan is a jack the lad; he will sleep with any woman given the chance. Harry the youngest is a joiner and the brains in the family. Evelyn his daughter is twenty five and her father is pushing her to meet a man and get married so he can have grandchildren.

The French drove on the right hand side of the road which would take some getting used to but Harry managed just fine.

“Isn’t the countryside beautiful here Harry, I could live here you know.’

As long as it had a carp lake I could fish from, I would too he laughed.’

“Of course that goes without saying.’

“Are you serious?’

“Yes I am, we could do what they are doing here Harry but only better. We could buy a cottage somewhere with a lake, stock it with carp and other species and charge rich people to come out and fish here. I’m going to pick a few brains whilst I’m here Harry.’

“I will also asked about fitted kitchens as well because there could be a lot of potential customers.’

“Just think Harry with your joinery skills we could make a fortune here.’

“We would be right on our own lake, you and I could take beginners and show them how to go on and charge something like £300 pounds each.

“We have paid £400 each to come here for a week with no instruction so I would say charge them £500 per week.’

They would pay it you know Harry; five hundred pounds to these rich people is nothing. We can advertise it in America and Canada they love to come here.’

“What would we call it?’

The American’s love summer camp so we could call it The Anglo/French Summer Fishing Holiday Camp.” We wouldn’t need cottages Harry, just enough land so that people can pitch a bivvy.’

“We need something catchy pardon the pun.’

“Well we will come up with something.’

“I can provide meals at cost and we can make an absolute bomb.’

“Where would we get the money to buy land and a cottage with a lake let alone stock it?’

“Leave that part to me Harry.’ I will sweetheart my father to loan us the money and we can pay him it back Interest free.’

“Did I tell you that you were brilliant?’

“The most simple of ideas make money Harry.’ Look at cats eyes in the road. It made that guy a fortune overnight.’ I reckon if we can get fifty campers a week over the summer that’s £25.000 pounds a week in just six weeks we could make £150.000 more than enough to pay daddy back.

How often do people fish for carp?

From March until November in England.’

That’s thirty six weeks Harry, at £500 pounds a week that’s £900.000 pounds. With enough land we could dig another big lake and stock it. That way we make double the money because we can invite more people to stay.’
