Albert meets the daughter of Charlie and Elizabeth Millsap. They live on Kenton Road, in a bought property. He also is a pigeon man who has wangled his way into a chairman's job. he is a welder down the docks. No one is good enough for their daughter and they resent the relationship between Laura and Albert. Then there is William Owen(Willick) a roofing builder who lives in Cedarwood Avenue with two son's and a daughter. Alan is a jack the lad; he will sleep with any woman given the chance. Harry the youngest is a joiner and the brains in the family. Evelyn his daughter is twenty five and her father is pushing her to meet a man and get married so he can have grandchildren.

200. 200

“Really, then you should be looking to expand and take on more staff.’

“Yes, that’s a distinct possibility; once I learn how to drive I will be able to go to the jobs myself and then take on another worker.’

“Well I wish you every success, enjoy your meal it is on the house.’

Thank you.’

“My dad likes you, that’s a bonus said Susan he hasn’t liked any of my other boyfriends.’

“So I’m now your boyfriend eh.’

“Don’t you want to be?’ I mean I don’t just go out with anyone you know.’

“I didn’t mean it like that; I’m actually flattered because I’m here with you.’ I can really believe that I’m sat here having dinner with the most beautiful girl in the world.’

“You really have a low opinion of yourself Harry. You seem to think that women are not attracted to you for some reason.’

When you see where I live your opinion will change I’m sure.’

“I care not about where you live; only the man I see before me. You are ambitious, you are focussed and once more not bad looking either.’ Look you are blushing.’

The chef came out personally and served them their meal and it was as Susan had said the best mixed grill he’d ever eaten. They chatted away with no uneasy silences, where Harry explained where they were going the next day.

“Do you know a place called Grafton Mere?’

“Should I replied Susan, looking confused?’

“It a little village near Rippon and it has some excellent carp there.’

“Oh I see, I know where Rippon is so you can direct me can’t you.’

Harry talked for an hour on the many fishing techniques used for catching Carp.’

You’re not afraid of maggots are you?’

Well these harmless little fly lava come in three colours, red, yellow and white. The carp like a mixture of all three. They are normally bottom feeders but have been known to take baits from the surface like bread crust.’ I will bring a couple of tins of sweet corn and luncheon meat.’

“Don’t worry about food I will put us a packed lunch up.’

The luncheon meat and sweetcorn are baits we can use to catch the carp but a packed lunch is a bad idea. I have a bivvy and a couple of seats we can sit on. Bring a waterproof coat just in case it rains. We can always go inside the bivvy if it does start to rain.

“Does the rain effect the fishing?’

“Not really, just our enjoyment because no one likes getting soaked.’ Just like us fish have got to eat so they will feed in most weathers.’

“What time do we set off?’
