“I will mother don’t worry.’ I have to go bye for now.’

“Goodbye son.’

They brought the cases down from their room and asked to leave them in a secure place until they had gone for something to eat. Asking Alex what he wanted to eat he replied Pizza.

“Okay Pizza it is.’ Walking down the street from the hotel there were many local bars and restaurants. They settled on Ricardo’s after Alex said he knew the owner. They went inside and Alex introduced David and his wife. They sat down at the table and an assortment of tapas were put down in front of them. Then a pizza with different toppings it was huge and more than enough for the three of them; both David and Cassie struggled to eat it. Afterwards they drank coffee and digested their meal by walking around the town for an hour. They looked down at the beach for the last time before walking up the hill. David called in and bought two bottles of whiskey and Cassie bought two bottles of Vodka which they were going to take back to give as gifts. They had already spent a fair bit on souvenirs for work colleagues. They sat in the square for half an hour until it was nearly eight o’clock then wandered back to the hotel to collect their luggage.

Waiting was always the bit that David never liked on a holiday other holiday makers were coming in to start their holiday as they were about to end theirs. The coach arrived and David and Alex took out the cases and put them into the car boot and they got in and drove to the airport. They left Albufeira and followed the roads back to the airport. They passed the many local houses and farms along the way. David was impressed at the standard of cleanliness in Portugal the people really cared about their country unlike his own. He wondered what Alex would make of the litter strewn streets of Newcastle. They passed a vineyard and Alex said to Cassie that he wished they’d gone on an excursion to sample the many wines on offer.

“Don’t worry Doctor David, I will ask my father to send some cases of wine for you.’

“That would be nice Alex thank you. Tell your father I will pay him to have it shipped over.’

It took them just over half an hour to drive to faro airport it was seventeen miles but David didn’t break the speed limit. They found the Avis car hire then took the car back. Alex was able to get them past the queue when he spoke with his friend Simme the car was then handed back and his deposit returned. Alex had taken the cases out of the back and he put on his shoulder bag and then wheeled both his own and Cassie’s case to the check in. Again he used his influence to get them through as quickly as possible David had ordered Alex’s ticket to be picked up at the airport it was for one way.’

They looked at Alexio as he showed them his passport then they were through.

Now they had one hour and forty minutes to kill before boarding. They wandered around the duty free shops. David went to the jewellery shop and bought Cassie a lovely gold necklace it had a lovely blue sapphire in the centre. He would keep it as a surprise for her birthday. He bought Alex a watch that he could wear everyday so he would not be late. He paid for them on his credit card.

Alex was playing on a space invaders game in the amusement arcade he was fairly adept at the game because his friend had a computer with the game installed on it and he and his friend would try and better the others score.

Cassie and David went to use the toilet before going to the departure lounge finally flight D17336 was called.
