“If I win the British title will you marry me?’

“If you say, when you win the British title, don’t you?’

“Alright, when I win the British title would you do me the great honour of becoming my wife?’

“Yes, I will Michael; I want to spend the rest of my life with you because I love you.’

You have instilled so much confidence in me that I feel as if I could do anything too.’

“Did you ask about running for local council?’

“Yes, I am going to a meeting next week and I will then be able to see how our money is being spent and where those huge expenses bills come from.’

“Looking out at the old flour mill Michael declared that he was hungry. “It’s this sea air he said it always gives me an appetite.’

“Michael you are always hungry.’

“It’s the training you know.’

“Alright let’s walk back to the car.’

Michael put his arm around Evelyn and walked back to where they had parked. Michael opened the door for Evelyn and then ran around to the driver’s side.’

He put the key into the ignition and then pulled slowly away.

“You know what he asked as they drove along.’

“What said Evelyn curiously?’

I’ve asked you to marry me and I haven’t even bought you a ring.’

“Does it really matter that I have a ring on my finger.’ I know that you love me and what’s more I love you so we are fine.’

“No fiancé of mine is going to walk around without a rock on her finger. I have standards to up hold and once more I want the world to know that you are mine.’

“Right then where are we going for dinner?’

“There’s this new place called pizza hut they serve the best shish kebabs I’ve ever tasted believe me, and the pizzas are nice too. I thought we would get a platter that we both could share.’

“Sounds good to me.’

They drove to Grey Street and parked up then crossed the road to the restaurant.

Michael handed Evelyn the menu as they took their seats and she looked at him and said I thought we were having a pizza and a kebab?’

“We are, but have you seen how many toppings there are?’

Evelyn looked down the list at the selection then chose the chicken and mushroom topping.’

Michael called over the waitress and ordered two chicken shish kebabs and the twelve inch pizza for them to share.
