“Sister, I see.’

“It is, honesty, her fella Mickey Clements is on the bill and we’ve come along to watch him like.’

 “Alright, alright I believe you.’

“The woman poured out the beers expertly and Alan couldn’t help checking her over.’

“Like what you see then said the young woman as she placed the beers onto a tray then poured out half a lemonade from a bottle.’

“Aye I do actually said Alan, you look like a right classy bird, where you from any road.’

“I’m from Scotswood. There’s nowt classy about that place I can tell yer.’ What’s your name anyway?’

“Alan Owen.’ What’s yours then?’

“Bethany Wills and that will be six pounds and forty pence.’

Alan gave her a twenty pound note and told her to get herself a drink.’

“Bacardi and coke alright Alan?’

“Aye why not.’

Bethany took the twenty quid then wrote something on the ten pound note change.

Alan picked up the change then carried the tray back to the seat as the first two fighters were being introduced by the MC.

“Where the hell have you been lad we thought that you’d gone to brew the beer.

“Six pounds forty a round so gan canny will yer’s.’

Alan looked at the ten pound not which said “I get off at twelve if you are serious about taking me out.’

Alan smiled and then stuffed the note into his pocket as the bell sounded and the fight got under way. The local lad Lee Bryson was favourite to win against Jimmy Pierce from Yorkshire. A lot of fans had travelled up to support their man and were in fine voice. The fight was evenly matched as both fighters sparred for openings. Looking at the programme Evelyn had bought, there was six contests on before the main event which was Michael against Delray Williams from Sheffield. Willick dodged and moved his head as the fighters threw punches, his hands were held up in a boxers pose and they moved on their own as the fight carried on to the bell.

“Who’s yer money on then fatha?’

“Bryson for me, he’s starting to work Pierce’s body.’

Someone tapped Willick on the shoulder. And he turned around.’

“Would you care to bet on that?’

“Aye a would said Willick confidently, what odds will yer gimme?
