The world went to hell shortly after that first attack on the city I was in. Its was every man from themsleves until one day all the people who held a little bit of power silently agreed to live away from eachother. Now the world stayed divided up in to sections.

The first group of people were called the outsiders, the were the ones that you had to avoid they trusted no one and you were smart to do the same with them. Outsiders are the people who would kill you no matter what the age or circumstance. The were the closest group, and the most deadly, they had most of the weapons left. Then there was my group we are called the survivors, and that is exactly what we are. We do what we have to do to survive and nothing more, literally nothing more then that. The other groups are the murder, the lost, and the last. I don't know much about them, I just know their names.

8. Chapter eight.

I can't believe that this is my sister, yes, I can see the resemblance that she has to our family but still. My sister is sitting across from me and is staring with wide bright blue eyes. Those eyes look just like my mothers and fathers, mind you, my eyes are just plain old brown that aren't as intriguing as hers and the rest of my family's. Thalia even has the brilliant blonde that crowned my mothers head but I got my fathers light brown that was super thin and had no volume what so ever.

"I should have told you the second you helped me up." Thalia says.

I nod. She should have told me sooner because now Gemma and Anna will have to put up with a shocked me and that isn't easy. Speaking of Gemma and Anna shouldn't they be back already. Anna and Gemma have been gone for a half hour and still haven't returned.

"let's go get Anna and Gemma, then we will leave." I state with no emotion.

"Okay, let's go get them." Thalia says.

We both stand up and head in the direction that Gemma and Anna headed and start calling their names out. Of course, we don't get an answer and it freaks Thalia out. Clearly, she hasn't lived in a camp and lived separately on her own. Everyone usually lives in a camp with other people but a few select people believe it is better to live on their own. Sure, it helps when you only have to care for your self, but really it isn't a smart or safe lifestyle in this dangerous world. Anyone could find your location and try to murder you or, as it happened to Thalia, you could get taken, plus it would get lonely and surely you eventually would go insane.

Our camp once found a man that choose to live like this and we offered to help him out, he agreed to come with us so that way we could help him, but he was already to far lost in his own conciseness to even try to save. He died shortly after in the infirmary when he overdosed on everything that we had in there at the time, yah it was pretty bad. Because of this incident though the "doctors" keep everything locked up or with them at all times.

We walk further into the woods and I can't stop myself from comparing my sister with the man. She seems fine but she does drift off for no apparent reason, even when Gemma was trying to make a conversation with her. Anna seems tense around Thalia and it worries me but that is the least of my concerns right now.

"Anna!" I shout "Gemma!"

What was that? There was a noise off in the distance and it sounded as though an animal was passing through, but I can't be sure. I look over at Thalia and she seems to be having a panic attack. She is lying on the ground and is hyperventilating and I'm having a hard time reading her emotions right now. It must have been the way that she got captured, in the woods that was silent until the was a broken twig. Let's just keep walking. Even though my mind is telling me that I should just be walking I know that I need to stay here with Thalia until she is able to keep walking herself.

Thalia's breathe is slowing down to a normal rate and I can't help but to feel relieved knowing that she is okay right down. I place my hand on her back and am surprised by that fact that there is almost heat coming off of her. I lean down to look at her and I see that she is still as freaked out as before.

"Thalia, you need to get up, we need to find Gemma and Anna." I say soothingly.

"Ok." She mutters quietly.

She stands up and I can easily tell that she isn't okay and that she is still terrified of moving on. We continue to walk in the direction that they were originally headed in. we walk for a few more minutes until I come across a bag, not a plastic bag but a back pack. These bags are just like the ones that I use when I have to go on a raid. That's not good. If this is from the Lasts camp this is defiantly not a good sign. Did they come after us? If they came after us that would mean they most likely have already caught up with Gemma and Anna.

I pick up the slow walking pace and start to jog. I come across another bag and panic, there must be more then just on in this forest. And sure, enough the bag has a Last's symbol on it. I reach down and grab the bag, it is full and probably has supplies still in it. I open the bag and there is two flashlights two water bottles and ropes. This isn't reassuring.

The same noise from before is sounded again and I decide to head towards it instead of going in the direction we were going.

Whoever it is, is not very skilled or quiet. I stand a little straighter I hopes of spotting someone and then I see a small movement in the corner of my vision. I turn around to find Thalia being pinned to the ground by a girl who couldn't be older then me. I can't see her features because her long sleek black hair is covering her face.

"Hey get off of her." I demand.

The girl doesn't move but instead looks up over my shoulder and smiles. I instantly turn to face whoever is behind me. I look up at the person and notice that it is Harry. I raise my fist to punch him, but I get pushed to the ground before I can accomplish anything.

"Hello, Eve." Harry says.

"Harry." I say sourly.

He nods to the girl who has managed to knock Thalia unconscious and she comes over to me. I crawl away from her but she doesn't stop advancing towards me. She pulls she foot back and lands a solid kick to my side. I lean over to grab my side and feel another one hit my back. I cry out in pain and try to stand in hopes of getting away. I get up to a standing position and turn to run but I only get a few steps before something large and hard connects with my head causing me to black out.

Blue clouds surround me and I feel weightless and free. The clouds rock back and forth like a ship that is sailing across oceans and it is as silent as if I was stranded on the moon alone. I feel like a light feather that is falling effortlessly from the sky and softly landing on the ground.

Then of course the scene changes making me feel completely different. I'm atop of the tallest building in the abandoned city and am surround by dull greys and sad pale creams. The wind hisses and tries to make me topple off of the building into the raging crowd below. They are all around the building and are trying to light it. They manage to create a fire that quickly makes it way all the way up to the top of the building and now I am stuck breathing in the smoke from the fire and am struggling to stay up right. I look down at the crowd and jump.

I jump and continue to fall even after I should have reached the ground, my heart is beating incredibly fast as I know that I will soon reach the end of my life. I let a soft tear escape from my eyes as everything starts to move into slow motion. I see pictures of my sister and mother with their lifeless eyes and my father looking at me in disappointment.

Harry is laughing at me, Gemma is crying for me, Anna is breaking down into a million pieces, and Sava trying harder to prepare the next group of kids for this hostile earth that will surely destroy them as it has to me.

The impact of the fall hurts so bad that know there is no way the I could have survived that and surely enough I haven't because now I look sadly down at my empty shell-like body. Hands wrap around my feet and pull me down into the ground with them. I easily pass through the road and am now surrounded by blackness that I know I will now sped eternity in.

Pure blackness that is so cold and empty and makes me feel hopeless. It would make anyone feel hopeless even the people with the strongest of will wouldn't feel safe in this dark horrifying place. You can't see anything, and in some ways, I am grateful for this because I don't want to know what is head of me or behind me. The sounds are all unhuman and are constantly changing, each one more maddening and creepy.

The darkness suddenly goes silent and a small transparent oak tree appears in front of me and it looks hopeful or even a little promising. I float over to it because I have no control to what is happening around me or where I'm going. I float on the oak tree and get gently placed down. The tree is soft like a baby's blanket and is a comfortable as a bed. I slowly drift to sleep and feel safe and secure for once in my life.
