The Walker

The tale of Herias Knights, an ill boy from knight family. His family, one of the seven Royal Knights, want him to follow the tradition and become a knight. However, his talent, as well as himself, wants to become magician. How will he end up?

1. World of Knights

"Herias Knights! Wake up!" Haris, the youngest son of the family, shouted at tired Herias, the third son of the family.

"Haris, there is no need for you to shout," Herias calmed down Haris with tired expression.

"You know better than anyone that I am not physically qualified for knight training."

"Its just an excuse! Even I have higher skill despite having much lower stats than yours!" Haris argued with the idea of having handicaps eventually lowers their self-esteem and performance.

"You are counting my estimated stats without the status reduction, it is only tenth of that and fifth of yours," Herias found his status plate on the shelf next to his bed and he showed the numbers to Haris.

Haris, who lost any more words to say, quietly stepped away from the bed. He went to the dining room for morning meal. Herias didn't seems to be in hurry because anyone in the house understood that he had a incurable disease. While the rest of the house members had a dark blonde hair, he was the only one to have dark brown hair, which was known to be a disaster when a member of the family has different features than the rest. His pair of brown eyes, compared to that of usual blue eyes, made the situation worse.

[Distorted Life Force: A disease that drains the life force to its minimum causing severe reduction in physical stats. It has been said that the last owner of this disease was found thousands of years ago.]

Its effects were devastating to a child of famous knights family.

Walking down the large hallways of a mansion, Herias walked past Reis and Raries, the first and the second son of the knights family. The house had a tradition where the outstanding knights replace their first letter of their names, such as Heis and Haries, with the letter "r". Meaning that these two were already elite knights despite the small gap in age between them and Herias.

Reis, the oldest son of the family, was already the Royal Knight. His swordsmanship skills were highly evaluated. His tall figure, modest dark blonde hair, and a pair of blue eyes made him suitable for the title of the household's eldest heir.

[Skill: 8th Rank Swordsmanship]

He had talent, effort, and support that had pushed him beyond the reach of his companions. Considering that most of knights from his age group only has 5th Rank Swordsmanship, he was the genius that our house was proud to have, not to mention the second son who's following the same path.

Raries, the second son of the family, was already under the care of Royal Knight. His swordsmanship hasn't been far away from that of Reis. Similar with Reis, the rest of his age group was at least three rank behind his standards. His comparable, yet similar height and features with Reis gave him the title of "Reis's doppelganger". He obviously hates the title.

And here was Herias.

[Skill: 3rd Rank Swordmanship]

Although he had the same rank as everyone else in his age, he was considered as the failure of the family.

Even Haris, the youngest child, had better talent in swordmanship than him. Despite having much smaller figure and a less suitable weapon, he was still one of the Knights. It wasn't much before he was able to earn the title of Raris.
