8. The Brothers That Do Care

We all walked back up towards the castle as the Slytherin Quidditch team was going down towards the Pitch.

I looked through the group trying to see who would be Sirius's brother.

Only one boy looked remotely close to Sirius. He has the same black hair but Regulus's was a bit longer. The same matching grey eyes but his face was longer than Sirius's.

"Reg," Sirius called over with a wave. His brother simply ignored him and walked along with his team.

"Don't take it to heart mate," James said slapping Sirius on the back.

"I just wish he wasn't trying to get in with Voldemort and those death eaters," Sirius said quietly.

"Death eaters," I repeated.

"Followers of him," Remus replied to me.

"Let's just go," Sirius said quickening his pace. We climbed the staircases of the castle until we reached about level five.

"So what are we doing," I asked trying not to look suspicious.

"I still don't think we should do anything," Lily replied but stayed where she stood.

"We could put soap on the floor so anyone who walks by would fall," Peter pipped in.

"To easy wormtail," James replied. He was looking off into the distance and rubbing his chin purposely.

"How about we freeze all the toilets so when people need to go to the bathroom; they have to go all the way to their dorms," Lily announced.

Everyone kind of looked at Lily in shock; Remus was the first to recover, "and how would we do that?"

"We can use the spell Glacius," I chimed in.

"Freezes anything you point at," Remus thought aloud. "Not half bad."

"Well look at this," James said pulling his hand through his hair like always. "The girls are now the pranksters."

"Let's do it," Sirius smirked lopsidedly.

"Let's make this quick then," Remus sighed.

"You're sure quick on board this time," James mentioned.

"I know I won't get out of it," Remus replied rolling his eyes.

"Let's split up," Peter added. "To get the job done."

"Great idea," Lily said crossing her arms. "Rose and I will be doing most the work seeing how we have to do every floor of girls bathrooms except Moaning Myrtle's bathroom on the first floor."

"Better hurry up then," I sighed. "I can take floors four through seven and Lily you take ground to three and we'll meet at the common room?"

The boys divided the floors amongst themselves which left Sirius and Remus traveling with me to the third floor.

We began our climb up the several flights of stairs; Sirius and Remus were talking about the wand movement of the spell. I kept my head down as we trugged higher up the steps.

Bang! I hit somebody, "ouch," I said rubbing the side of my face that clashed into the persons chest. I looked up to see Sirius's brother Regulus. "Oh I'm sorry," I spoke quickly. Up close his was definitely scarier than Sirius. His eyes seemed to be sunken in a bit, making his grey eyes darker than his brothers.

"My bad," he grunted out rubbing his chest lightly.

"Hey Reg," Sirius said from beside me. "How's it going?"

"Fine," his brother breathed out lightly.

"Bit of a coincidence seeing you twice in one day," Sirius laughed a bit.

"Hmm," Regulus replied and began to move forward.

"Wait," Sirius said quickly, blocking Regulus's way down the stairs. "How about we talk for a bit, eh?"

"I rather not," he replied. "I don't fancy being told what I'm doing is stupid."

"But Reg he can kill you if he wants," Sirius replied sternly. "Anytime!"

"I'm a loyal follower," Regulus replied rolling his eyes. "Or I will be soon enough. Out of my way."

Regulus pushed Sirius aside and walked down the stairs quickly.

We moved up the stairs quietly. Sirius kept his head down and his mouth clamped tightly together but I could tell he was in serious thought.

We arrived to the third floor and Remus pipped in, "I'll see you guys back in the common room." He waved to the both of us and turned back towards the staircase.

"Are you okay," I asked as we started down the corridor.

"Yeah," he replied straightening up and shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Well," I continued with a light smile. "I'm always here if you need to talk."

We parted ways at the bathrooms; it was easy casting the freezing spell Glacius which had the wand movement of simple pointing at the target. I finished the bathroom quickly and made my way into the corridor to see it was deserted.

I made my way down the corridor towards the other bathroom which was located on this floor; after a while I finally finished the seventh floor bathrooms.

I placed my wand in my pocket as I stepped out of the bathroom. "What are you doing," a creepy voice asked as the door closed behind me.

I looked up to see Regulus Black leaning against the wall. "Going to the bathroom," I replied straightening up. "What are you doing? Didn't you go down the stairs?"

"You all seemed a bit suspicious and that Snape boy kept talking about how he thought you all were up to something," he said simply.

He stood there quietly for a moment like he wanted to ask something else, "do you have anything else to say," I asked walking up to him.

His cheeks flooded with color, "wha- no."

"Do you want to know anything about Sirius," I asked.

"Well," he said slowly. "I can't really ask any of the guys and the two of you guys seemed pretty close."

"only a bit."

"He left the house last summer," Regulus was definitely scarier than Sirius but when I see him talking like this -his hands folding over each other in nerves and his cheeks were still filled with red- he didn't seem as scary at all.

"He did tell me that he left," I chimed in as he paused.

"How is he," he finally said.

"He's good," i said stepping closer to Regulus. "He likes living with the Potters; I think he was relieved to leave the house," as I said this Regulus's eyebrows furrowed. "But he does seem worried about you."

Regulus looked up quickly, "he worries about me?"

"He does," i replied.

"Hello," Remus's voice rang out through the corridor. "Am I interrupting something?"

"No," Regulus and I replied at the same time.

"See ya," Regulus replied and began down the corridor in a quickened pace.

"What were you guys talking about," Remus asked as we began walking back towards the Gryffindor Tower.

"He asked me about Sirius," I replied lightly.

"Really," Remus asked. I looked over at him and he was smiling slightly.

"They both care for each other," I continued, "why don't they just talk to each other about their feelings?"

"In the Black House you really don't share emotions," Remus replied with a small frown. "Their mother is very," he paused trying to find the right word to use, "narrow-minded." He continued slowly, "she concentrates very much on blood purity; so she will not have anyone in her house which are not pure-blood. She also doesn't like for her family to communicate with anyone who are half-blood, mixed-blood, or muggle-born."

"So she must really not like Sirius then with you guys as his friends," I replied lightly.

"What do you mean," Remus asked suddenly; fear flooded his eyes.

"You are half-blood," I replied. "Am I wrong?"

"Oh," his laugh was shakey. "Yes, I am."

"Peter and Lily too," I added.

"Yes," he said breathing slowly. "Sirius and his mother never really have seen eye to eye."

"Well Regulus is worried about him; maybe they could try to become friends?"

"That might be a little much to ask," Remus replied.

We finally arrived to the common room where everyone else was waiting in the usual chairs for us. "Everyone's done now," James smiled. "Now we wait to see the panic tomorrow."

The next day was indeed panic; Charms class multiple girls got detention for being late because they had to go all the way back to the Ravenclaw common room.

James and Sirius were laughing when Severus Snape got yelled at because his bathroom break took over fifteen minutes.

"Now what prank are we going to do next," James asked as we all sat down for lunch.

What have I gotten myself into?
