1. Late Acceptance

I was sitting in my brightly lit kitchen with my dad as he was shoving cookies into his mouth.

"You're going to get into trouble, you know," I laughed.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," he said through a mouthful of cookies.

I reached out to grab a cookie but as my fingers got within inches of the tray, it suddenly flew into the air.

"I said no cookies till after supper," my mother demanded. I turned around slowly and there was my mother standing in the doorway of the kitchen. Her hair was long, black and curly; her eyes were a deep green. One hang was on her hip and the other had a wand in it.

"I didn't even get one yet," I complained lightly. "Dads the one who ate all of them."

"How about I make dinner tonight honey," my dad stood up quickly and pulled his wand from his pants pocket.

I watched as he waved his wand around in the air and suddenly it was like all the ingredients in the kitchen were dancing and my father was the conductor.

Suddenly there was a light knock on the door; "I'll get it," I yelled and jumped from my chair.

I opened the door, not to see a human standing there but to see a little barn owl on the ground with a letter in its beak.

"Oh we got a letter," my mother said cheerfully from behind me. She bent down to get the letter; a couple coins in her hand to give to the owl but as she grabbed the letter, the owl flew off without his payment. "He must have been paid beforehand"

"Whose the letter for honey," my dad asked from try living room. He must have been done with dinner.

"It's actually for Rose," my mum said handing my the letter.

I opened the letter quickly and pulled out two thick pieces of parchment. The top of the first piece of parchment had the Hogwarts seal; a lion, snack, badger, and an eagle.

"It's from Hogwarts," I said excitedly as I read over the letter. "It says I've been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It says that they want me to be on the train to Hogwarts on September 1st."

I looked up to my parents quickly. They were bother staring at each other with worried expressions. "Oh please," I said with puppy eyes. "I swear I'll go to the nurse every week, I'll come visit you mum, and I'll write dad every day if you want."

My dad gave my mum sympathetic eyes as if trying to help me out but I sat there silently as they speak with only glances.

"Twice a week," I offered then clasped my hands together. "Please."

"Honey you've just been sick for so long, that's why we haven't let you go to school," my mum said in a soothing tone.

"The letter says that Dumbledore will look after me too," I said shoving the letter at my mum.

"Oh honey," my father spoke lightly. "Why not let her go? You could go see her every day if you want, I mean you're not ever far away, you do work there."

"But you'll be all alone here," my mum whispered as she grabbed my dads hand.

"Oh I'll be alright," he replied with a smile. "The department of Magical Law Enforcement has me busy these days; especially looking into the animagus; muggles are saying they've seen people changing into animals and I've been on the job," my dad sighed a little. "But honestly; I don't even think they're are more animagus. You have to have quite a lot of magical skill to become one and I've heard it's not a nice change either."

"Oh fine," my mum sighed finally but I had a feeling it had to do with my dads none stop talking. "But you'll come see me anytime you have any pain, and you'll visit the hospital wing twice a week. Oh and you'll write your father as much as possible being how he might get lonely."

"Yay," I squealed and ran to my parents. I engulfed them into a gigantic hug. "I can't wait to go to Diagon Alley and get all my things! I don't need a wand since I have one, also wouldn't need an owl because I have Owlington."

"We'll go tomorrow," my dad laughed and walked to the kitchen.

"Lets have dinner already," my mum said following my dad but I couldn't even think about eating!

I was finally going to Hogwarts! To learn with real witches and wizards my age! I couldn't wait to meet new people and learn a bunch of things!

This was going to be the best year yet!
