The skinny Kind of Beautiful

People call me fat. People call me lazy. Then as I put all the pieces together, I realize what I need to do to change.

9. Meeting Henry

I walked slowly and cautiously to school, watching the floor and the left and right for any signs of movement. I held my book tight to my chest. Nobody was around, but I had to make sure.
"Hey, who are you looking for?" Said a dark voice behind me. I gasped and shriveled around. A boy wearing a black hoodie, black jeans and a pair of black sneakers was behind me. His black hair was swayed to the side.
"Knocking at deaths door?" I winced, just to make sure. He laughed. "Huh?" he said, digging his hands in his pockets. "Oh," I blew a sigh of relief. "I'm Kathryn. Kathryn Halloway." I stuck out my hand. His eyes widened. "What?" I said. "Nothing," he mumbled, staring straight into my eyes. "It's just that... you're the one that my brother was talking about."
"Huh?"
"He goes to your school," he explained. "He said everyone's talking about you this week. You're the one that got beaten up that other day. And I've never seen a girl with such skinny arms before." he looked all around my opened palm. I put my hand down quickly and looked down at the floor. I've never heard someone say out loud that I have such skinny arms before. But it sounded like it was sort of insulting, so I ignored the comment. "So, what are you doing here..." I said, waiting for him to say his name.
"Henry Fisher," he said, grabbing my hand to shake it. "And I got enrolled here yesterday. I was expelled from my last school."
I backed up, dropping his hand. "Ex--expelled?"
"It was nothing personal," he said, digging his hands back in his pockets again. "Some kid just had the need to put cigarettes in my book bag. My teacher found me pulling it out on my desk later."
"Oh," I sighed. "Di--did you smoke it?"
"No," he said, looking at me up and down. "My parents would kill me even if I was around fire." He fiddled with his watch. Watch. Time. School. Detention. "I got to get to school!" I yelled, running on the sidewalk.
"Nice meeting you too!" He yelled after me.
