The Owlery

Ron Weasley has always had an appreciation for Luna Lovegood's lovable quirkiness. But what happens when Ron realizes his friendship with Luna could be something more? This short story takes place during HBP, and Romione is featured at the end.

7. Sunrise Kiss

The next morning at sunrise, Ron stood a few feet away from the steps to the pitch, hidden in the shadows. When he heard Luna’s footsteps, he reached out and snatched her off the trail. Luna giggled as Ron led her deeper into the darkness. Luna placed her forehead on Ron’s chest, as he smelled her dirty blonde hair. She smelled like lemon.

Luna, in the rush of the moment, decided she had no regrets. She stood up on her tiptoes, and pressed her lips on Ron’s. Ron was surprised, but happy. He feverishly kissed Luna back, feeling a sensation of warmth all over him. They broke apart for a moment, and then Ron leaned down.

But Luna pulled away. In that split moment they had been apart, all her doubts came rushing back. She was elated and depressed all at the same time. Ron started toward her lips again, but Luna pushed him away. She had been bullied all her life. She would not let Ron would not bully her. Ron was crushed and it showed in his face. Luna said in a fierce whisper, “This was a mistake.” She marched away from Ron in a hurry, and returned to the castle.
