No One Ever Knew...

Piper just moved to her new school, and she is positive that there is something wrong with. The history of the school isn't the best, and the principal never comes out of his office. She is determined to figure out the secrets of this school, even if she has to die to figure it out.

3. No One Can See?

I woke up. I could feel something cushy underneath me, and something warm on top of me. I opened my eyes, finding a woman staring straight into my eyes. "Sweetie? Are you awake?" she whispered.

I was confused. Where was I? I pushed myself up, ignoring the nagging pain inside of my head. I stared at the lady for a long time, before her name came into my mind: Mom.

"Mom? My head hurts..." I groaned.

"Yeah. I figured. That's why I placed some Asprin right next to your bed, just in case."

I could see her smile at me tenderly. I smiled back at her, and opened up the pill bottle, took a sip of water, and then looked at the boy next to her. Howard.

"Oh! This young man! He found you, and his theory is that you bumped into the storage room window. I told you sweetie--you have to be more careful, walking as fast as you do. You walk like a bullet train."

She turned towards Howard. "Thank you. Oh! Here's an idea. How about I go and get some cake and lemonade, and you keep an eye on her, just to make sure she doesn't do any further damage to herself, huh?"

Then she was gone. And it was just me and Howard.

"I believe you now," I said to Howard. "This school is strange. And I just don't know what."

"Mmm..." he said.

I licked my lips and continued. "I bumped into the window, and I fell down. I saw somebody in the window. but they were pulled back. They asked me to help them. I fainted out of shock."

Howard seemed to smile, a relieved smile. He took a deep breath and held it for a few moments before he released it.  "Finally," he whispered.

"Hmm? What was that?" I said.

"Finally. I found someone who could see it too. No one believed me when I said that there were people trapped in the school. They thought I was crazy and stupid. But now? Now I have someone who believes me because they can see it too."

He looked up at me, a joyous expression on his face. A few seconds later, that joy turned into an expression of depression. "If only we can make the others believe."

"Wait? What?" I said. "I didn't...I didn't imagine that?"

My head was spinning. "Ohmigosh! Ohmigosh! Ohmigosh!"

I turned towards him. "That! That was true?"

He nodded. "I wish I could tell you no, but I'd be lying to you."

When I moved here, I wanted a normal life, that wasn't filled with all this drama. But this right here? This wasn't drama. This was something else. Mom had always called her curious girl. The girl who got so in tuned into one thing that she wanted to figure out everything about it to get her answer.

"We have to help her!" I said, loudly.

"The girl...and possibly everybody else who is trapped there."

"Um....I don't think you understand....there is something in there. Something that isn't right. And I know that you want to go and be all heroic, but I don't think you can deal with this type of stuff. I mean, you did faint after seeing some girl in the window."

"I wasn't expecting to see a girl with a crazed look on her face in a dark room with one window that I apparently only I can see." Then I stopped and thought. "Wait! No one else can see what we can see?"

"No one so far. There might be others, but I can't be too sure."

I licked my lips, then started gnawing. This was too much for me to handle.

I looked up at Howard. "I want to do it. I don't care if I die. But this school has secrets. And secrets are something I like to know, and I would do anything to find out secrets. Even if it means dying."

Howard looked at me with and impressed, but worried look on his face.

"Even if I die." I look and stare him directly in the eye.

"You in?"
