2. 4 Years Later

It was 4 years after that fateful Halloween night that Remus Lupin's life had changed forever. As much as he missed his friends, his love, and his honorary godson...he was happy to have adopted the beautiful little girl that had shown up on his doorsteps a mere 4 years ago. Remus absolutely adored the 5-year-old girl and even considers her his daughter even if it wasn't in blood. He told the little girl everything when she was old enough to understand the concept and had never lied to her about anything, knowing that she needed to know the truth for the day that they returned to the wizarding world, but for now he was content to live with the intelligent, energetic little girl as much as a Muggle as possible.

Breaking him from his thoughts was an excited little bundle of joy that flew down the stairs as Remus finished setting the table. The little girl shrieked "Daddy!" He caught her in his arms and couldn't help the warm feeling he got from hearing that term of endearment. He had tried telling her that she should save that term for when her actual father was free, but she seemed to be having none of that.

He whispered back "Good morning sweetheart."

Remus ran a hand through her white-silver hair that had brightened with her aging making sure that she got all the knots out when she brushed it that morning. Her silver eyes that she had inherited from her father looked into his own amber colored ones with a bright smile attached to the face they were apart of. The wizard sat down with his adopted daughter to eat breakfast as she chattered excitedly about starting her first day of school that morning. When it was time to leave, Remus took the little girl's hand and apparated her to a nearby park where no one would see them. She giggled as they landed and he fondly rolled his eyes at her.

She practically bounced up and down as she said: "Come on, let's go."

Remus smiled at the excited little girl as he let himself be pulled along by her to her first day of kindergarten. It seemed like no time before they were standing at the door of her close room where the young wizard could see many kids playing.

He crouched down to her level and said, "Now, I am going to leave you to it and I look forward to meeting any new friends you meet today when I come and pick you up this afternoon. Remember to behave and be yourself."

The little girl through her arms around him and whispered "I will behave and make some new friends. I won't ever change, I promise."

Remus kissed her her head and answered: "Don't forget my dear, if you need anything to press the moonstone in your bracelet that I gave you and I will immediately come to you...wherever you are."

She leaned into him and whispered "I won't forget. Promise. I love you daddy."

Remus felt his heart twist at those familiar words. He loved to hear someone telling him those words as he always wanted to have children someday, but at the same time he felt guilty; Sirius should be here and should be the ones hearing those words. He shook those thoughts away as he whispered "I love you too cub."

The little girl gave him a kiss on the cheek and ran into the room to make some new friends while Remus watched her with mixed emotions twirling through him. The young wizard found and empty room and disapparated from teh school and to his next destination: Azkaban Prison.

It was time to see an old friend...
