A Warrior's Love

Damon Salvatore is older than everyone thinks he is...his soul is also not entirely Damon's either. Reincarnation has been a researched theory numerous times, but hardly anyone ever remembers their past life....but Damon does. Maybe that is why he is the way he is...or maybe it helped him become the vampire he is today. But what happens when his past comes back to haunt him? Read and you will see

3. The Journey

A concerned voice broke him out of his thoughts "Damon, everything okay?"

Damon shook himself from his plaguing thoughts and memories before answering his brother "Fine. Just knocked the glass of the table. Nothing horrendous."

He didn't look at his brother as he cleaned up the broken glass from the floor and threw it out. He could still feel the slight tremors running through his body, but he hoped that they were too slight for his brother to notice them. He poured himself a fresh glass of bourbon and tried to stop the tremors in his hand as he felt a familiar comfort in the feeling of a glass in his hand.

Stefan didn't say anything more but Damon could feel his brother's eyes still watching him. He pretended not to as he swallowed down the dark amber bourbon in his crystal glass. Just as he set his glass back down and took a deep breath he felt the tremors leaving his body as his nerves settled back down to their regular feeling and functioning.

Stefan asked "Is there something on your mind Damon? You haven't been sleeping well."

Damon held back a flinch at his brother's observation and truthful words but he didn't say such. Instead, he answered, "Just thinking of the upcoming move and leaving Mystic Falls yet again, for the umpteenth time."

Stefan stood there silently for a second before he said "Alright Damon. But if you need anything I'm here."

Damon nodded his thanks before his younger brother left the room leaving the older Salvatore alone with his thoughts once more.

It didn't seem like long at all before the vampires were packed and driving away from Mystic Falls, Virgina to start their new life in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Damon hated to leave home, but he knew that the Founder's Council were to close to them and he couldn't stand it if any of his adopted family got hurt any more than they already have because of the anti-vampire secret council.

Before long, the group was pulling up in front of a mansion relatively set back from the surrounding neighborhood that was owned by the one and only Mikaelson family. They all stood in shock as the two Originals gave them matching smirks at the awe on their faces. It was Klaus that spoke, "Are you all going to stand there gawking, or would you like to get settled?"

The small group gathered their things and entered the huge mansion taking a breath that the feeling of comfort, and safety that flood through them at the thought that they were away from the Vampire Hunting council, and safely hidden from the world and surrounded by each other.

The group picked their rooms that were sporadically spread around the mansion but were still in good distance of each other so that they could be close to their "family" members. No one objected when Klaus and Caroline decided to share a room (even though all the vamps knew what would happen more often that not).

Damon settled into his room and laid on his new bed to stare at the ceiling and go back to thinking about the thought that had plagued him all day, especially the bad gut feeling when they passed the 'Welcome to Tulsa' sign. He didn't have long to think before the exhaustion of the day's events started to catch up to him and leave him dozing off with the hope that he wouldn't have any more flashbacks or dreams that night.

However just before he fell asleep, a quiet whisper flitted seemingly through his mind It's starting Azrael...he's coming.
