7. Chapter 7

~~Lucy's POV

It had been a few hours since my mom left my hospital room. I was sat in the bed with nothing to do but stare at my wounds in disgust. They were stitched up, but still looked horrifying against my pale skin. No matter how hard I tried, images of Jack kept popping into my mind. I couldn't get rid of him. His manic smile haunted my mind. It was exhausting. Suddenly, the nurse with straight black hair came into the room. I glanced at a badge she was wearing, something I didn't notice before. Amanda. She smiled slightly. "Hello, dear. There are some people who want to ask you a couple of questions." I looked behind her and saw two men wearing police uniforms.
Fantastic.
"Ok." I replied weakly while looking at my lap. This is not what I needed right now. The nurse left the room as the officers entered.
"Hi, Lucy." Said the first man. He pulled a chair to sit down beside my bed. He had long, light brown hair that went down to his shoulders and subtle dark blue eyes. He spoke with a calm tone in his voice. "I'm Mike. We would like to ask you a few questions about what happened, if that's ok?" I nodded. "Great." He said with a small smile. "First, give us a brief description of what happened. If you don't feel comfortable answering, that's fine." He attempted to make eye contact with me, but I just stared at my wounds. I twiddled my fingers for a moment before answering. "Um, well, I went home to my apartment and worked on a project on my laptop. I don't remember how but I woke up tied to a chair in the basement of my apartment building, with a man standing above me holding a knife." I left out the part about my laptop glitching. I don't know why.
"Ok, can you tell us what the man looked like?" Said Mike.
I didn't know what to say. Part of me wanted to tell the truth, then Jack would get what he deserved. But the other part didn't want to tell him. Part of me cared for Jack. Part of me knew it wasn't him hurting me, it must have been someone else, somehow. "Um, he had, uh, curly black hair and brown eyes." I came up with a random description. Why was I sticking up for Jack? He put me here! What am I doing...
"Anything else? Maybe things like his height and shape?" The second man stood behind Mike and was writing things down on a notepad.
"He was short and, um, large." I hate lying. I've never been good at it.
"Have you ever encountered this man before the incident?" I don't like these questions.
"No."
"So you don't know his name or anything like that?"
"No."
"Ok, Lucy. Thank you for your time. We hope you have a quick recovery." Mike said before he stood up from his chair and left. The man behind him nodded in my direction and followed Mike out of the room. I didn't realise I had been holding my breath and quickly exhaled. I kept thinking about Jack. It wasn't him, I'm sure of it. It must have been Anti. But, how? It doesn't make any sense, but I know for certain that Jack didn't hurt me, at least not knowingly. Amanda came into my room again. For god sake, can I not get any peace and quiet?
"You have another visitor Lucy." Is all she said before he walked in.
Jack.
