A darker January

Written in a darker January than usual. I don't know whether to make it a song or just a poem... we'll see.

1. A darker January, written by Karoline Hundrup

A darker January than usually
The winter's cold nights are calling
I cannot find any light from inside
There's only warmth from the candlelight

The nature is sleeping covered in snow
It's been asleep for long, but it knows
Exactly when it has to wake up
And I do not, I do not

A dusty, dead flower
Hanging in my empty home
I might think it's more beautiful
Than when it was alive
But isn't that a sad thing
Isn't that a strange thing to think?

I just came home from a long walk
Outside in the night, black as my thoughts
My fingers are red from cold
Wish I had your hand to hold

A dusty, dead flower
Hanging in my empty home
I might think it's more beautiful
Than when it was alive
But isn't that a sad thing
Isn't that a strange thing to think?

It's hard to look back
When your fortune is black
It's hard to look right ahead
When your mind is filled with dead

But isn't that a sad thing
Isn't that a strange thing?

Small flames and dripping candle wax
Lightens up when the sky turns black
Moving flames and a last deep breath
Blows out my candle and then I’m dead
