The devil is and always will be a gentleman.

They say that the eyes are a window to someone’s soul.
But what if they are empty?

Scarlet Waters, a teenager who is being stalked down by her future husband, is slowly noticing everyone around her is dying. Drained of all hope and clueless to her serial killer's wishes, she plays straight into a pair of loving arms.

She falls helplessly in love and begins twisting her morals to be with this man. Everything that she stood for in the past is altering and she is forced to become disturbingly submissive to this beast.

However, you shouldn't fight ten enemies with nine bullets because damaged people are dangerous- they know how to survive.

She has one question for you:
How exactly do you breathe when your kisses are filled with pain?

8. Cafe talks

Alone, i wandered down the highstreet. It was two weeks since Isabella’s death and i was celebrating her life by visiting the club she was last scene at. Ironic, i know.

The police had finally taken down the tape and reopened the place, forgiving it of its temporary crime scene.

“You can change the scenery but not the situation!” I remember screaming.

Crime scene or club, Isabella died moments after visiting this place.

My heart ached and my bones were heavy as i stared up at the flashing lights which screamed,

“THE CLUB”, original name. I know.

Depressingly, the blue, red and white LED flashes around the sign, reminded me of the dancing and fun, before it all went wrong. But what did i expect? To see the club and all life's worries disappear?

Perhaps, i did bump into Hunter here? His eyes were so familiar, but from an earlier event, that i must have just waved it off as a coincidence. Alcohol was my scapegoat for all my mistakes that night. Questions haunted my sanity, adding onto my diag-nonsense.

Rain poured down, adding to the miserable scenery. For a spring evening, the weather sure hailed down with a fury of winter.

I let the heavy drops of water soak my simple outfit and destroy my curls; i didn’t care at that particular moment.

A car drove by, revving it’s engine and then pulled up besides me.

In the car, sure enough, was Hunter, looking concerned.

“You realise it’s raining, right?” He shouts out, forcing his voice to be louder than the screaming rain. Sarcasm would have been a better answer than what i actually did. I laughed.

I actually laughed, loud and clear as if this entire thing was hysterical.

Hunter grinned at me before declaring,

“An enchanting tune from such a broken soul.” His poetry melted my heart,

“When was the last time you laughed so freely?”

“I am standing outside the club in the pouring rain, laughing. Is this free?” I hollered, throwing my arms up and embracing the rain which welcomed itself onto my body.

“Are you free?” He repeats my question and a sad smile forms on my lips,

“You don’t know what it is like to feel fine! I am so numb that i am okay, you know? Words can't describe the balance. It hurts, but in a good way. Am i mad?”

Hunter takes in my words and then throws the car door open for me with an evil wink,

“Insane. You are completely nuts, and i want to get a coffee with you.”

A cosy, little coffee shop sat at the end of the highstreet. Warm, orange colours and the scent of chamomile greeted us as we escaped the hounding weather, seeking refuge in the safe arms of caffeine.

“You know, coffee shops scare me.” Hunter shivered after we ordered our drinks and hid away in a far away booth. Dim lighting and comfortable seating- i couldn’t ask for a more perfect scenery.

“Explain?” I chuckled, sipping away at the hot goodness of my hot chocolate.

“Caffeine is a drug. Therefore cafes are just drug shops.”

“What is your point?” I giggle loudly, flashing my teeth to him with amusement.

“Drugs are illegal. All the good kinds that reduces pain, are banned. Why is that?”

Underneath his childish phobia, lay a frightening truth.

“You can buy pain killers at a pharmacy.” I tease, soaking up his eye roll. A magestic movement which had me hooked.

“I don’t want prescribed pain killers. Too weak. How do i deal with mental pain?” He snorts,

“And besides, it doesn’t relieve the source of pain, it just tricks your brain into thinking you are healed.”

I nodded, this was an interesting hypothesis.

“But what if you have too much of the illegal substance?” I debated, agreeing with his point entirely but liking the friendly argument.

“You could overdose.” I add.

Hunter takes a long sip of his water, rubbing his lips together with this new found moisture and sighing,

“You can overdose on anything, Red.”

“If you are in pain, you should see a doctor. Mental pain, a therapist.” I point out, trying to lighten the situation with some humour. Hunter tossed his head back and chortled,

“I don't need a therapist to relieve issues.”

“Then what do you use?” I breathe into my hot beverage, indulging in the delightful aroma.

Hunter swam in a pit of his own silence. It was as if he was thinking about something in depth, lost in a separate world. Selfishly, i took joy in seeing another person as messed up as me.

“Why do i need something to relieve issues? Can’t they just disappear?” Hunter frowns, wrapping his hands around the glass of water; he visibly shivers.

“Face your demons, Hunter. It’s the only way to move on with your life.”
My response was articulate enough, however, all i could think about is how the demons were the only things holding me above the water whilst i drowned in the sea of life.

“Then why are you running away, Red?”

His question, though brief, sunk into my core as if it was a direct attack on my dreams. I could just be paranoid, but this was the first sinking feeling that made me doubt the boy i sat opposite.

He chuckled, a joyless, scared laughter which sparkled alongside his dead eyes. For a moment, he was not the attractive young boy i was becoming addicted to, but instead someone who was no longer alone with his thoughts.

Sorry, i am not re-reading my work, i kind of just think of what i want to write, and then do. My grammar and spelling could be terrible, so i do apologise. Also, in earlier chapters, i think i mixed up the names a little. Isabella and Kylie, i think, were swapped.    Will edit when i get some time, but until then, i hope you enjoy my terribly written story!!
