13. Traveling to Brazil

My alarm clock rang at seven and I quickly changed into my New York sweats. I got out Addie a summer blouse and sunglasses. I went into the kitchen and packed up Addie a bag of apple juice, water, more fruit juices, crackers, Cheetos, I basically packed a bag full of kid snacks. I pulled my hair up in a ponytail and made Sleeping Beauty a bowl of her favorite cereal. I then proceeded to pack up all the clothes and beauty supplies. I also packed up my toiletries and got ready to wake her up.

I shook her awake and she rolled over. She covered herself with her blanket and squeezed her stuffed baby tight. I ripped of the covers and she shot up and yelled at me.

“MOMMY!”

“Addie.”

“GIVE ME THE BLANKET!”

“No.”

“BLANKET! SLEEP NOW!”

“Adelaide!”

“NO SLEEP!”

Addie got out of bed and ran out of the bedroom. She opened the trailer door and I found her climbing into her princess jeep. Addie put it in reverse and went halfway down the parking lot before I finally caught up with her. I picked her up and dragged her jeep behind us. I stored it in the storage and went back into my trailer. I buckled her into her booster seat and handed her the bowl of cereal. She began eating but gave me the stink eye.

“Adelaide Elizabeth Parrilla, what the hell am I going to do with you?”

“I don’t know.”

“Do you have anything you want to say?”

“I’m sorry Mommy.”

“I forgive you.”

Addie finished her cereal and went into the bedroom to change whilst I cleaned the last few dishes still in the sink. I moved all the furniture back and cleaned up the mess from the party. I put the rest of Addie’s cake in the fridge and found her in the bedroom wearing her sunglasses, sunhat and summer dress. She was pulling her suitcase behind her.

“Mommy, let’s go to Brazil.”

“Hija fácil. No tan rápido, tenemos que encontrar mi pasaporte y consigue la tuya.” Easy daughter. Not so fast, we need to find my passport and get yours

I knew she wouldn’t understand what I said but oh well. What came out of Addie’s mouth next made me cry and laugh at the same time.

“Bueno Mamá, voy a ser paciente” Okay Mama, I’ll be patient.”

I laughed and then picked her up and held her in my arms. I leant back and stared into her eyes and then I kissed her again.

“Who taught you Spanish?”

“When I was little they used to play Spanish songs for me to learn. They taught me Spanish and then English. But I used English when talking to others.”

“You’re only three and yet you’re the smartest person I know.”

She put her head on my shoulder and I grabbed the suitcases. I opened the door and the golf cart with the crewmember waiting to drive me to the private jet behind the studio. He quickly loaded up the three suitcases and Addie sat on my lap as we drove behind the studio and to the ABC private jet. The suitcases were loaded up and I helped Addie climb the steps.

Addie’s POV

Mommy helped me climb the steps of the airplane. We walked into this big room and there was a TV and chairs. They also had food and drinks for me. I found Bex and Sean already here. I ran in and sat on Sean’s lap. He was my daddy. I sat on his lap and Mommy took a seat beside her best friend. Mommy got out her computer and began looking at wedding dresses or bridesmaid dresses. Daddy got out his phone and let me play a game. He then put me on my own seat and buckled me in. He got me goldfish and juice. Jennifer and Colin got on and then Marcus got on as well. Soon it was Jennifer, Colin, Josh, Ginny, Bex, Marcus, Daddy, Mommy and I. I was happy.

Mommy worked on her computer while I played games on Sean’s phone. I still wasn’t sure on what to call him. The plane began to move and I unbuckled and watched the ground become smaller and smaller in the distance. I was flying all the way from Canada to Brazil and Mommy had told me it was a very long trip. I watched the ground vanish beneath the clouds and then I went back to play on Sean’s phone.

After a while Mommy brought me some lunch and then she disappeared into one of the rooms on the plane. Bex stayed with me and I snuggled with her. I could tell she loved me more than life itself. I was giving her experience to know what to do when her daughter Elizabeth came into this world.

“You having fun playing on Sean’s phone Addie?”

“Yes Bexie I am.”

“Are you ready to go to Brazil?”

“Yes I am.”

“Good, I’ll be back soon.”

“Okay Bex. How long does it take?”

“We left at ten so we’ll get to the hotel at midnight.”

“So when I’m asleep. What time is it now?”
“Noon.”

“Oh.”

I went back to playing my game and then Sean came in and sat down beside me.

“Addie baby, I need my phone.”

“Okay can I watch cartoons?”

“You can go into my room and watch cartoons on Netflix.”

“Okay thanks you.”

I took Sean’s hand and he led me down the airplane hall and into a small room with only a bed. He leads me into the room and lifts me up to the bed. He hands me a box of apple juice and covers me with a feather blanket. He turns the television on and scrolls through Netflix.

“What do you want to watch?”

“What time is it?”

“It’ll be two when you finish a movie.”

“Can I watch Snow White or Frozen?”

“Yes you can. Which do you want to watch?”

“Snow White.”

Sean turns on the movie and kisses my forehead before he leaves. He cracks the door a bit and I stare at the screen. I drink my juice and eat my gold fish. The Evil Queen had just made the poison apple when I hear a knock at Sean’s door. I jump off the bed and open it a crack. It’s Mommy.

I reach up for her to pick me up and she does. I nestle my head on her shoulder and she kisses my head. I hadn’t seen her in a couple hours. She holds me and then we walk back into Sean’s room. She kisses my head and sits at the edge of the bed.

“Adelaide. I want to talk to you about the wedding?”

“What? You’re marrying Sean and he’ll be my daddy.”

“Yes but I want you to be my flower girl.”

“What’s that?”

“It’s where you wear a pretty dress with a flower crown and you throw petals onto the ground before Mommy walks down the aisle.”

“Who’s going to walk you down the aisle? Grandma and Grandpa are dead. So is Aunt Deena.”

“Well I don’t know who’ll walk me down the aisle.”

“So I’m the flower girl?”

“Yes and Sean’s nephew Flynn is the ring bearer.”

“Mommy, when you and Sean have a baby will you forget about me?”

I climb into Mommy’s lap and she wrapped her arms around me. I wiped my tears and sniffed. Mommy kissed my cheeks and helped wipe away my tears. My whole body shook and I was scared.

“No Adelaide. You are my daughter. You are Daddy’s daughter. We won’t forget about you. I promise.”

Mommy kissed me and let me finish watching my movie. She left and closed the door slightly behind her. I heard voices down the hallway and heard cheers of joy. They probably were all getting drunk. Then I couldn’t hear anything. I finished watching my movie and went to go find Mommy. I went into every room but couldn’t find my family. I finally sat down on the floor and cried.

“MOMMY? WHERE IS YOU MOMMY?”

“I’m in my room baby!”

I ran down the hallway and into Mommy’s room. She was sitting on the bed and leaning up against Daddy. Jen was sitting on the chair on Colin’s lap. Ginny and Josh were snuggled together at the end of Mommy’s bed. Marcus and Bex were also together. I didn’t understand why they couldn’t spend more than a few seconds away from each other. I climbed into Mommy’s lap and felt her arms around me. I felt Sean’s arms around me as well.

“Addie do you want to watch OUAT with us?”

‘What’s Once Upon a Time?”

I laughed at their faces and they all looked horrified. They stared at me and then back at Mommy.

“I’m kidding. It’s my favorite so yes.”

Mommy turned on her television and turned on Netflix. I sat in her lap and watched her cast a curse. I watched Ginny have a baby. I watch Jennifer have a baby. I watch Bex have a baby. I watch Daddy die and Mommy cry. We watched a few episodes before Mommy looked at the clock and then at me. I was rubbing my eyes and I was very sleepy.

“Bed time Addie.”

“Okay Mommy.”

Jennifer gave me a kiss on the cheek, Colin gave me a hug and fist bump. Bex kissed my cheek and so did Ginny. Marcus and Josh tickled me and finally Sean picked me up and threw me on the bed. He and Mommy held a tickle fest. They attacked me. Finally Mommy kissed Daddy and he left. Mommy got my pajamas and helped me change into them. She tucked me into bed and booped my nose.

“Boop! Night night Adelaide.”

“Night night Mama.”

“You are the best thing that ever happened to me.”

“You are too Mama.”

I closed my eyes and slept. It had been a very long day and yet it seemed so short.

Lana’s POV

I covered Addie up with blankets and kissed her head. I kept the door open a crack and made my way to the huge window in the side of the plane. I watched as the plane passed over a vast land of darkness called America. Soon we would cross the ocean and land in Brazil. I watched and then poured myself a glass of wine. I sipped my wine and watched the darkness move around.  Rebecca and Marcus watched a movie in their room and Jen and Colin discussed birthing options. Man they were loud when having a serious conversation. Ginny and Josh were talking to their little boys before their sons went to bed.

I sipped my wine and watched the darkness cover the land below. I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist and Sean leant down to kiss me. I couldn’t wait until we got married. We stood there in silence and I imagined what life would be like at his wife. Then Sean left for a few moments and turned on some music. He took me into his arms and then bowed down, looked up at me and kindly asked.

“Will you have this dance?”

“Yes Mr. Maguire. I would love to have this dance.”

“Ms. Parrilla.”

“Mr. Maguire.”

Sean swooped me up into his arms and began dancing with me. We walked back and forth. We did dips and spins. Finally he spun me into his arms and stole a kiss. The light flicked on and Bex stood there in a bathrobe with a silly expression on her face.
“We’ll land soon. You should get some sleep.”

“Okay Bex. Goodnight Lana.”

“Night Sean.”

Sean left and I sat on the couch. Bex sat down beside me and asked.

“You really love him don’t you?”

“Yes more than anyone in the world.”

“I do have a serious question though?”

“What? You can ask me anything.”

“What happened to Addie’s donor?”

I just stared at Rebecca and stared down at my lap. She wrapped her arms around me and I looked at her.

“I’m sorry Lana I didn’t mean to upset you.”

“No it’s time I told at least someone.”

I stood up and walked over to the window. We were flying over the ocean and would land in Brazil soon. Rebecca comes up and sits beside me. She places a hand over her expanding womb and hands me a new glass of wine. I take a few gulps and Bex refills my cup. I would tell Bex and then I would tell Sean. I would tell Addie when she was older.

“It was three years ago when we were shooting Season 5. My parents both died in a car accident. My sister and nephew died on the way to the funeral in another car accident.”

“I remember you came to set all upset and teary eyed. Then a few weeks later your husband and you got a divorce. I remember comforting you in that hard time. Then the next year I got married.”

“Bex it’s not about you.”

“I know tell me more please.”

“I need sleep. We’ll be landing soon.”

“Lana Maria Parrilla, you were going to tell me. So tell me.”

“After the divorce was final I met this man named Alexander, we went out for drinks and a few weeks later I found out I was expecting a little bundle of joy.”

“Lana that’s an amazing story.”

“I gave her away but soon realized that while I was pregnant she became my flashlight. Good night Rebecca.”

“Night Lana.”

Bex gave me a hug and went back to her room and I went back to mine. Adelaide had moved again and now was sleeping with her body stretched across the bed. I slowly moved her and got under the covers with her. I closed my eyes and held my princess tight. Her father Alex was missing out but now we both had Sean and as far as I knew now Sean was Adelaide’s father and nothing could stop that.

“Goodnight Addie.”

The plane landed and our things began heading to the hotel before the crew woke us up. I got up, showered, changed into a hoodie and a pair of jeans. I walked out into the main room and found everyone up and waiting for me. I greeted everyone, grabbed a bite to eat and ran to get Addie ready.

She was sleeping when I shook her awake. Her eyes opened wide and she jumped out of the bed and ran to the window. She started jumping up and down.

“Mommy I wanna see Brazil. I wanna see.”

I picked her up and she hugged onto the window. I put her down and got her into her Snow White dress. I brushed her hair and put in a red bow. I helped her put on her plastic glass slippers and grabbed her overnight bag with a change of clothes and snacks. She took my hand and we walked into the main room of the plane.

“Bex!”

“Adelaide!”

Addie ran and gave Bex a big hug. Then she ran to Sean and jumped into his arms. He lifted her up and hugged her tight.

“I love you Daddy.”

“I love you too Addie.”

Addie quickly ate a bowl of cereal when the hatch to the outside world opened. We all got out and I carried Addie down the steps. We all put on our sunglasses and got into limos before too many photos were taken. We piled into two limos and were driven to the hotel. We had a police escort. Addie sat on my lap and watched out the window. She looked so cute with her little sunglasses perched on her nose. When we arrived at the hotel we got settled in and I changed into a nice dress. Addie didn’t want to change so I didn’t make her change. The limo arrived to take us to Con and we all piled into another limo and drove.
