Lana’s POV

About a month after the wedding I started feeling very ill. My two best friends were expecting babies in September so they were no fun to talk too. It was all babies and booties to them. So I occupied my time with Addie and Sean. It was my birthday and I was turning, not telling you. I was sleeping in bed and I could hear my two loves downstairs in the kitchen making a huge mess. I felt sick so I got out of bed and went to puke. I sat there and then realized something.

“I’m pregnant.”

I dug through the cabinets and found an old pregnancy test from when I found out I was pregnant with Addie. I had bought like six of them but only used two. Now I got two out and waited until I had to pee. I ran water I drank water and waited until I had to pee. Finally I had to pee and I could hear Sean and Addie coming up the stairs with my breakfast. I used both tests and put them on the counter. Sean knocked on my door and Addie started singing happy birthday.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOMMY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU”

“Thanks sweetie.”

“Are you okay Lana?”

“Yes just feeling a bit ill. I think it’s a parasite.”

“That’s not good.”

Finally the five minutes were up and I saw both tests show up two pink lines. I was pregnant. I put my hand over my mouth and tried not to scream. I held both sticks and cried. I guess I let out a little cry because Sean was knocking harder.

“Are you okay Lana?”

“Yes, it’s a parasite.”

“That’s not good. Do you know what kind?”

“The kind that grows, goes away in nine months, goes away 18 years after that. The kind you name and feed and grow attached too. The kind that you love and bond with.”

“Lana! Wait What?”

I opened the door and smiled. I handed Sean the tests and his eyes lit up. He gave me a kiss and Addie just stood their dazed and confused.

“When?”

“Wedding night.”

I walked over to the bed and Addie climbed into my lap. She must’ve figured out what was going on because she asked.

“Are you going to have a baby?”
“Yes Adelaide, you’ll be a big sister. Isn’t that wonderful?”

“Do I have to share my room?”

“No but Mommy won’t pay as much attention to you. But the new baby needs me more. I will love you both the exact same okay?”

“I understand Mommy. I’m happy. Can we go to the doctor?”

“For what?”
“I wanna see the baby.”

“No honey I won’t go for a couple more months. Be patient and I’ll go in a couple months. You can see the baby later.”

I stood up and Addie wrapped her arms around my leg. I lifted her up and carried her downstairs. Sean grabbed my tray of breakfast and I put Adelaide into her seat. I set her toast and eggs in front of her and watched her eat. I began eating my meal and Sean stared at me. He took away my plate when I was done and washed it. Finally he pulled out the bottle of champagne that I had put in the fridge that night when he came over for pizza. He poured me a glass and poured himself a glass.

“Sean I can’t drink. I’m pregnant.”

“Come on Lana just one toast.”

“Okay.”

Sean got Adelaide a cup of lemonade and together we toasted. Sean wrapped his arms around me and he toasted.

“A toast to my beautiful wife, my beautiful daughter and the baby that grows in your womb. To my family.”

“To family.”

“Mommy and Daddy and baby.”

Addie drank all her lemonade and climbed out of her seat. She immediately ran to the playroom. Sean and I stayed in the kitchen. He held me in his arms and looked down at me.

“I remember our wedding night. You said you weren’t ready for this. Are you ready now?”
“No but you said we would get through it. I’m having your baby.”

“I know are you ready?”
“Not really.”

Sean pulled me closer and I felt his breath on my face. I stared into his beautiful blue eyes and took a few deep breaths. I put my hand on the side of his face and pulled him into a passionate kiss. We pulled away after a few moments and went our separate ways. Sean went out into town for a while and was going to meet up with his mates Marc, Josh and Colin. Jen, Ginny and Bex were supposed to come over. Oliver and Hugo were going to play with Addie while my ladies and I sat around the living room and watched the OA, American Horror Story, Game of Thrones, or whatever they wanted to watch.

“I’ll see you later okay?”

“Okay. I love you Sean.”

“I love you too Lana.”

Lana followed Sean into Addie’s playroom. She was busy playing with her baby dolls and making pretend lunch. Lana watched Sean pull Addie up into his arms and kiss her goodbye. Lana had to bite back the tears; she loved seeing them two together.

“Hey Lil one you be good for your mommy. I’ll be home later.”
“Okay Daddy. I love you.”

“I love you two lil bean. Take good care of your mommy why I’m out with my mates.”

“Je serai bon. Je le promets.” I’ll be good. I promise

“Je sais que tu le feras.” I know you will.

Sean put Addie down and she finished playing with her dolls. He kissed me goodbye and then said.

“Nuestra hija es fluido en fracés y español. Ella es bilingüe a sólo tres.” Our daughter is fluent in French and Spanish. She’s bilingual at only three.

“Lo sé nuestro nuevo pequeño sera fluido en ambos también.”

“Okay Lana I’m not that good at Spanish. What did you say?”

“I said, I know and our new little one will be fluent in both as well. Soon we’ll have to take a trip to Spain and France.”

“Comic Con in Barcelona and Paris.”

“We agreed we would go next year.”

Sean kissed me and left the playroom. I watched Adelaide play for a few moments then went back into the kitchen. If my three best friends were coming over I would have to prepare food for our TV marathon and prepare a couple drinks for Ginny. Jen, Bex and I would be drinking sparkling lemonade and fruit juices. I opened the fridge and realized I needed to go grocery shopping. I wrote down a list of foods and called my local grocery store. I hoped they delivered. I called and a young boy answered.

“Hello? Yes. I was wondering if you delivered.”

“Yes we do deliver. Please tell us your list and we’ll get it to you in about an hour.”

“Okay I need these; cheese bites, red and green apple slices, pepperoni slices, butter crackers, two pepperoni and mushroom pizzas, six pack of root beer, sprite, margarita mix (virgin), popcorn, egg nog, a fruit tray and maybe throw in some fried chicken and some chips.”

“Is that all?”

“Throw in some stuff for three children.”

“Is that all?”

“Yes. See you soon.”

I hung up the phone and walked into the living room. I threw blankets out and set up napkins, plates and other things we would need. I set up bowls to pour snacks in. I turned on the television and went to check on Addie. She was in her playroom and watching cartoons. I’m sure she was waiting until her two friends came over. She ran to me as soon as she saw me.

“Mommy.”

I picked her up and held her in my arms. I turned on some music and put her down. We danced and danced and danced. Finally I had to sit down and she went back to watching her princess movies. The doorbell rang and I walked back into the living room. I turned around and softly said.

“I love you.”

“I love you too Mommy.”

I walked back upstairs and opened the door. A box of groceries was in a deliveryman’s arms. I handed him two hundred dollar bills and took the box from him. I carried the box in the house and closed the door with my hip. I walked into the kitchen and began unpacking the box. I set up the fruit tray in the living room and set up a plate of cheese with picks. I put the pizza in the freezer and set out three bags of popcorn. Once the food was all ready I went back and checked on Addie. She still watched her princess movies. I set her little table up with kid snacks and drinks. I also turned on the baby monitor. Finally the doorbell rang again.
