Adelaide Elizabeth Parrilla was born to Lana Maria Parrilla and has an unknown father. Lana didn't want to expose her baby to celebrity life so gave lil Addie up for adoption. When Adelaide was one Lana decided to look for her baby and finds Addie just a few weeks before her third birthday. It was difficult at first but a happy ending is at the end of the tunnel

23. Ella, my babysitter

Addie’s POV-------------------------

         When Mommy and Daddy left to go out, I was left with Ella. I think it was about three in the afternoon when Ella first came. Her blonde hair was tied up in a bun with a blue ribbon and she wore a turquoise shirt with black skinny jeans. She also wore her black combat boots. Ella lifted me up in her arms and Mommy kissed me goodbye.

“Goodbye Addie.”

“Bye Mommy. Bye Daddy.”

“Ella, we should be home around seven. Her dinner is in the fridge, you know where the numbers are and I want her showered and in bed by the time we get home.”

“Yes Mrs. Maguire.”

“Sean, am I forgetting anything?”

“Addie’s not allowed in the cookie jar, she can have one cookie if she eats all her dinner and takes her bath without a fuss. Read her one story and that’s it. See you in four hours. If there are no cookies, you can make some.”

“Yes Mr. Maguire.”

“And Adelaide.”

“Yes Daddy.”

“Behave!”

         Ella shut the door behind my parents and I waved goodbye. I didn’t want to behave for Ella. I didn’t want to do anything. Ella carried me to the playroom and walked down the stairs.

“What do you want to do?”

“Nothing.”

“Come on Addie, we got to do something for four hours.”

“I don’t wanna to anything.”

         I ran up the playroom stairs and slammed the door behind me. I quickly ran to my secret hiding spot in Mommy’s closet. I ran up the stairs and into Mommy and Daddy’s room. I dove into the closet and hid behind a mound of clothes. I tried to hide back a giggle as I heard Ella searching every room.

“Addie. Addie! ADDIE ADDIE!”

         Ella made a lot of noise as she searched through the house. Finally I heard her stomp down the stairs and into the living room. She turned on the television really loud and vanished. A few minutes passed and I crawled out of my hiding spot. I looked around and then stood up. I felt Ella’s hands come at me from behind and she began tickling me. She picked me up and held me under one arm while she tickled me.

“Ella stop!”

“No silly Billy.”

“You tricked me.”

“You hid from me for nearly an hour.”

“Stop tickling me, I got to pee.”

“Okay hurry up. Then we’ll make cookies.”

“Yeah cookies.”

         I ran into my room and into my princess bathroom. I used the bathroom, wiped and flushed. I stood up on my pink princess stool and washed my hands. I used soap and sung my ABC’s twice.

“A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z. A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z.”

         When I finished I opened the bathroom door and found Ella with one of Mommy’s aprons. She wore Daddy’s and then proceeded to tie Mommy’s around my waist.

“It’s too big.”

“It’ll work. I promise.”

         A couple minutes later after three wraps and a huge bow and some folding Ella had successfully tied the apron around my waist.

“After cookies you are going to take a bath.”

“NO!”

“Then you can have two cookies. But don’t tell your Mommy.”

“Okay.”

         Ella picked me up and carried me down the stairs and into the kitchen. She put me down on the counter and helped me look through the cookie recipes. I couldn’t really read but Ella was going to teach me.

“Do you want chocolate cookies or snicker doodles?”

“Chocolate chip are yummy”

“Okay. Can you tell me what we need?”

“I don’t know.”

“Read the words.”

“I can’t read that good.”

“You spend so much time playing your games and watching Disney movies. Surely your Mommy has tried to teach you how to read.”

“No not really. I do get to start school when I’m four though.”

“That’s awesome Addie.”

“I can’t read.”

“You have to remember these past three months have been busy for your Mommy. In eight months she’ll have to kids to take care of.”

         Ella handed me the cookbook and I stared at the words. They looked like lines to me. I didn’t know what to do. Lizzie had begun teaching me how to read when I turned two but I never paid attention.

“I can’t read I’m only three.”

“Then say the letters and numbers.”

“Okay. 3 4 c-u-p s-u-g-a-r.”

“Three fourths cup sugar.”

“3 4 cup b-r-o-w-n sugar.”

“Three fourths cup brown sugar.”

“1 cup b-u-t-t-e-r s-o-f-t-e-n-e-d.”

“Butter softened”

“1 t-s-p v-a-n-I-l-l-a”

“1 teaspoon vanilla.”

“1 e-g-g”

“One egg.”

“ 2 1 4 cups f-l-o-u-r.”

“That’s called flour.”

“1 teaspoon soda.”

“Baking soda, different from regular soda.”

“1 2 salt.”

“1 half teaspoon salt.”

“Yeah that.”

“2 cups c-h-o-c-o-l-a-t-e chips.”

“Chocolate chips.”

“Okay are we done?”

“Yes we are done.”

         Ella handed me each thing and let me put it into the big mixing bowl. I poured in the sugar, butter and vanilla. I put in the soda, salt and chocolate chips. Ella handed me a wooden spoon and helped me stir. I had flour all over my face and Ella had it all over hers too. After we mixed the cookies she washed off my face with a damp rag. She then washed off her face. Then we rolled the cookies into little balls and put it on a pan. Ella put the cookies in the oven and turned to me still sitting on Mommy’s granite counters.

“Okay it’s five, I’m going to get your dinner ready and I want you to take a bath. I’m going to trust you. If you clean everything I’ll let you have two cookies and some gummy bears.”

“Okay. Will you turn on the water?”

“Of course. Which bathroom are you going to use?”

“Can I take a bath in Mommy’s scuzzy?”

“It’s called a Jacuzzi and no. Take a bath in your bathroom or the downstairs so I can hear you.”

         I ran upstairs and dug around in my drawer. I pulled out my Frozen pajamas and I grabbed a clean pair of panties. I carefully stepped down the stairs. I still hated the stairs because they scared me. I ran into the bathroom and Ella helped me take off my shoes and dress. She picked me up and put me in the warm tub. She soaped up my hair and handed me a washrag with soap on it. She got the soap off my hair and rinsed me off. She handed me my toys and left the bathroom. I played with my toys and drowned my mermaid dolls. I played with my dolls until the water got cold.

         When the water got cold I drained the water because I’ve seen Mommy do it so many times. I climbed out of the tub and got all the water off with a towel. I put on my pj’s and walked out into the kitchen. Ella was just warming up my dinner on the stove and putting it on a plate. She had set the table with a spoon and a fork. She placed three cookies and some gummy worms on a plate for me. She saw me out of the corner of her eye and smiled.

“You’re such a big girl.”

         She picked me up and put me in my booster seat. I immediately took my sippy cup and started drinking my apple juice. Ella set a plate of macaroni and bacon in front of me covered with yummy cheese sauce.

“Yummy.”

“Eat up and then eat your dessert. It’s 5:45 so you can watch an episode of TV before bed.”

“Okay.”

         I picked up my fork and began eating my macaroni. I put down the fork and picked up my spoon. It was hard to eat with those plastic things.

“I can’t eat.”

“Why not?”

“I want a big girl fork.”

“Say pleases.”

“Pleases.”

         Ella handed me a metal fork with sharp tongs. I stabbed at the pasta and quickly ate it all. Ella removed my plate and kissed my forehead. She then set my dessert in front of me and I ate all the cookies. Ella used to babysit me when I was younger and before Mommy found me. She had worked at the orphanage but quit when I left. I’m glad daddy managed to find her again. She was my favorite.

“You know Addie, I’ve known you since you were a baby.”

“I know you worked at the orphanage. When Lizzie was sick you took care of me. Or when Lizzie was at school.”

“Are you done eating?”

“Yes.”

         Ella held a wet washcloth and washed my face and hands. She brushed my hair and picked me up out of my chair. She carried me into the playroom and sat me down in my princess chair. She turned on an episode of Bernstein bears and left. I watched my show until it was over. When it was over Ella was back to carry me to bed. She carried me up the stairs and I tried to keep my eyes open. Ella tucked me under the covers and took a book off my shelf. She sat down on my bed and I climbed into her lap. She opened the book and let me look at all the pretty pictures of princesses. She slowly began to read the book.

“Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Regina. She was madly in love with the stable boy Daniel. One day she was out riding her horse when a young girl came running past screaming on her horse that had been turned wild.  Regina saved Snow White’s life and said ‘the only way to overcome fear is to face it…Regina hated Snow because Snow told her secret and became the Evil Queen…in the end Snow and Regina became best friends and Regina bore her husband Daniel a beautiful daughter whom they named Adelaide.”

         I closed my eyes and let the darkness surround me. Ella put the book back on the shelf and picked me up. She lifted up the covers and laid me down. She covered me with my blankets and kissed my cheek. She stroked my hair and then left. She turned off the light as I opened my eyes. I watched her close the door and vanish away.
