20. Day at Home

Lana’s POV

I woke up with a sick feeling in my stomach. I pushed away the blankets and climbed out of Sean’s arms. I climbed out of bed and ran to the restroom. I slammed the door behind me and locked it. I knelt over the toilet and let it all come out. I heard Sean get up and get dressed. He knocked on the door and asked.

“Are you okay Lana?”

“Yes I‘m fine. Get Addie up for me would you?”

“Yeah sure. Do you want us to run out and grab some breakfast?”

“Yeah I’m going to clean up a bit.”

“Okay I’ll be home soon.”

I flushed down the morning sickness and washed my face. I rinsed out my mouth and pulled back my hair. I lifted up the shirt of my hoodie and pressed my hands against my stomach. I was only a month pregnant and so much in love with the baby that grew inside me. It felt like I was pregnant with Adelaide again but this time I had Sean, this time I was married and this time I wouldn’t give away my baby just because my life was threatened. I had Addie back and soon I would have this little life form growing in my womb.

I heard Addie run into the bedroom. She knocked and banged on the door. I opened it and saw her standing there. She reached for me to pick her up. I did, when I had her on my hip I felt sick again but I held her still.

“Good morning Mommy.”

“Good morning Addie. You and Daddy are going to get breakfast while Mommy cleans up.”

“Is Mommy sick?”

“Yes but it’s just my body’s way of telling me that I’m pregnant.”

“Oh, I love you. See you soon.”

“Bye sweetie. See you soon.”

I put Addie down and straightened out her red checker print dress. I straightened the red bow in her hair and tied up her red converse. Sean had done a good job dressing her but it had to be perfect. I kissed her head and gave her a hug. I put a hand over my belly while Sean took her hand and led her away from the bedroom. I went back into the bathroom and turned on a hot shower.

I soaped up and washed off. I sat down and put my head in my lap. I cried and sobbed. Finally I got out, dried off, wrapped a towel around me and walked back into the bedroom. I held the towel with one arm and dug through my closet with the other. After about ten minutes I chose a cute feather t-shirt and a pair of white sweats with a number seven made out of feathers. I then pulled out a pair of burkins and realized that I needed to paint my toes. I got out a pair of white underpants and a white sports bra. I put on the bra and my underpants. I put on my shirt and my sweats. I then walked into the bathroom and straightened my hair.

I straightened my hair and pulled it back into a tiny ponytail. I wish I had some of Regina’s fake hair right now. I put on foundation and I put on powder. I contoured and highlighted my cheekbones. I put on base for my eyes and applied mascara. I then did my favorite smoky eyes and applied a deep red lipstick called Capricious by Mac. Finally I walked into the bedroom and painted my toes and fingers a dark matte black. Then I decided maybe I should change.

I took off my shirt and pants. I put on a pair of skinny jeans and a red blouse with a few ruffles. I pulled my hair down and then pulled on a pair of black ballet flats. I shouldn’t have painted my nails. I then found my diamond stud earrings. I walked downstairs and into the living room to clean up from yesterday. I found that Sean had cleaned everything to perfection and even lined up the TV remotes. The pillows were perfectly in place and the blankets were perfectly folded.

I walked into the kitchen and everything shined because Sean had cleaned them so well. I pulled out paper plates and filled Addie’s sippy cup with apple juice. I poured myself a glass of orange juice and made Sean a cup of coffee. He probably ran out and bought donuts or something else he knew wasn’t healthy. I walked into the downstairs bathroom and tidied it up a bit. I then went into Addie’s playroom and I smiled. She had put away her toys and she had thrown away her trash. She had turned off the television and tried to fold blankets. I folded the blankets and finished cleaning up a few small pieces of snack and paper wrappers.

When I was done cleaning Addie’s playroom, I decided to fold a load of laundry. I went into the laundry room and found that Sean had folded and put away all the laundry. A pile of clothes was in the hamper so I tossed them in. I walked into the living room, sat down on the couch, laid down on a pillow and texted Sean.

Where are you it’s been four hours?

Sorry we went to the store.

We’re picking up food now.

Be home soon, I promise.

You better get home soon.

I want my little baby girl.

I need to make a dr.’s appointment.

I’ve had time to shower, dress, and do my face.

I’ve had time to redress and clean up a bit.

You’ve been gone for four hours.

Don’t pick up breakfast pick up lunch.

Okay be home soon.

I got off the phone and scrolled through my contacts. I hadn’t called Dr. Reese since I was pregnant with Addie three years ago. Dr. Reese had delivered Adelaide and helped me with a lot of very important decisions. I called her office and she picked up on the first ring.

“Hello, Dr. Reese?”

“Yes, who is this?”

“It’s Lana.”

“Lana, oh hi Lana.”

“Yeah hi, I would like to make an appointment.”

“You’re pregnant?”

“Yes found out yesterday.”

“Come in any time. I can wipe my schedule.”

“Okay thanks. See you soon.”
