Chapter 1: X Factor Day

Louis' P.O.V.

It's X Factor Day and I absolutely cannot wait to see what the judges say about my singing talents. I especially can't wait to see what Simon Cowell will say.

As I get ready to get up on stage I glance over at my parents, Johanna and Mark. They are talking in hushed voices to each other, probably about how nervous they are about me being on the X Factor. I sigh and look back at myself in front of the mirror. My heart races as I hear the crowd outside cheer and clap. They are celebrating whoever made it into the X Factor. For a moment I feel myself start to sweat and I grow nervous about what the judges will say about me.

I've always wanted to be a singer since I was a little kid at the age of four years old but when I signed up for the X Factor a few weeks ago I wasn't expecting to have all the pressure of this on my shoulders. I sigh again and start to pace back and forth across the room.

My mum walks over to where I am standing and puts a hand on my shoulder.

"You okay, Lou?" she asks me.

"Yeah," I reply. "Just a bit nervous."

My mum sighs and smiles at me She looks so tired in that moment that I start to feel bad for her. I love my mum like no other but with her being with me on this trip I just feel like I should've made her stay back behind at our home in Doncaster, England.

"Just remember, Louis," she says. "Me and your dad will always be here for you no matter what. Okay?"

"Okay," I reply with a sigh.

I look over at the TV and see a boy with curly brown hair about my age go up onstage. I stare at him for a moment admiring his curly locks and the way he strides confidently on to the stage like he isn't nervous at all.

"Who's that, Mum?" I ask my mother.

"That's Harry Styles, honey," my mum replies. "Why do you ask?"

I shake my head not wanting to let her know that I am gay. She doesn't know that I'm gay and I want it to stay that way. I look back at the TV and stare into Harry's eyes to see if there is any trace of nervousness in his posture or the way he speaks to the judges. When I don't see any nervousness in his eyes I look back at my mother and smile.

"Five more minutes, honey!" my mum exclaims. "Then you'll be in front of Simon Cowell!"

I smile at my mum and run a hand through my hair. I take a deep breath just as Harry Styles comes walking past me and my mum. Harry looks up at me and for a moment we stare at each other in awe. Harry's piercing green eyes stare into my blue eyes for a second and in that moment I know that he is the one for me.

"Hello," Harry says.

"Umm...H-hi," I stammer. "You must be Harry Styles. I'm Louis Tomlinson."

"Well, it's very nice to meet you Louis," Harry says with a seductive smile. "How do you know my name, mate?"

"Uhmm...My mum told me. I guess you're very well known here."

"Yes, I suppose I am." Harry smiles at me again and my heart starts to race hard against my chest.

I turn to my mum and ask her to give Harry and I a few minutes alone. My mum agrees reluctantly and once she is gone I turn around and face Harry once more.

"So, Louis," Harry says. "Where are you from?"

"I'm from Doncaster, England," I reply. "What about you?"

"Evesham, England," Harry replies.

For a moment we just stand there and stare at each other. Harry looks at me intently making me feel a bit uncomfortable. I sigh and look down at the ground shyly hoping he will stop staring intently at me. I wonder if he is straight too and for a second I want to ask him until I hear my name being called from onstage.

"I'll see you later, Harry," I say.

"Wait. I'll give you my phone number so you can call me."

Before I can protest, Harry grabs my hand and writes his phone number on the palm of my hand. A jolt of electricity goes throughout my entire body and I jump a bit. When he pulls back and releases my hand I look at the palm of my hand to see his phone number there. When I look up again he is gone.
