16. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

This song is vulgar so if you don't want to listen to it that's okay. It really sums up my experience with religion and my views and struggles with deciding what I believe in. Listen to the words, and you will know me.

"Ill Mind of Hopsin 7" by Hopsin

Dear Sarah,

I've felt a sort of religious influence over the past couple of years here at this Catholic school. It's hard not to start blending with the things that constantly surrounding you. If my family was Catholic, there would be  no doubt that I would be. Funny how that works, right? We are what are parents are. My mom is pretty far left, so are my brother and I. Now, of course I'm not just blindly following. I was raised in a way and brought up with certain values that make me as liberal as I am. I'm secular too, as religion was never a large part of my family's life, even though we attended church sometimes. Still, we only sat there without a connection to any god.

I'm listening to the Beastie Boys and talking about God. Seems pretty ironic to me, don't you think?

I do share many of the same values as the Catholic church, and others I strongly oppose. The opposition is what sometimes makes it tough to attend this school. That among other things. I don't believe in the existence of god, I believe in science. Where is he now? Where are the miracles and where is Jesus? It's hard to answer these questions, but it's nice that people have something to believe in and something to bring them together.

Music is that for me. I'm not going to say that stupid "music is my religion" crap, but yeah essentially that's what I mean. I don't want to go into any more of my views, as I don't want to offend your views or anyone close to you. Thank you.
