“Grandmother needs your assistance and I said I would watch the twins.”

“You’re only seven.”

“I can watch two babies that are only a day old.”

“Fine very well then, be careful they are still new.”

“You didn’t ask why Grandmother needed you.”

“I have my ideas. Tell me, why is everyone wearing a blue dress today.”

“I don’t know this is the first time that I can’t see.”

“Okay, be careful with them and if you need help, get their maids.”

“Yes Aunt Regina, I will.”

I rush towards Zelena’s room and I am handed an apron upon my arrival. A queen is never allowed to deliver a child but I would because an empress is allowed upon the threat of loosing her life. I’m glad I’m not Empress yet. When I do get into Zelena’s main chamber I am shocked to see the scene before me. Mother is grasping Zelena’s hand and easing the pain. Hades is standing by the window and he’s crying tears of sadness. Robin isn’t allowed in the room so he’s probably in the throne room and I was stuck watching maids do something that they didn’t know how to do. I saw the bloody sheet pile in the corner and more blood staining the sheets. I needed to get that baby out and heal Zelena before she lost any more blood. Her lips were pale and her skin was whiter than snow.

I knelt down at the end of the bed and saw a head crowning; I looked up at Zelena and realized that she was too weak to be pushing a baby out at this time. The blood loss was great and even more blood would be spilled if I didn’t perform the magical spell with correct accuracy. I looked up at Mother and nodded, she would have to help push the child out so that I could deliver the newborn manually. Mother applied pressure to Zelena’s abdomen and I saw a head begin to emerge. I would deliver this child without speaking a word if it was the last thing I ever did. Hades came over when the baby’s head was out and the shoulders were coming. He took one look and returned back to his spot at the window. I never appreciated him stalking around my castle with his godly air about him.

The baby came at 3:45pm on February 3 and it was a beautiful little being. I caught the baby as Mother applied the last force of pressure to Zelena’s abdomen. When Zelena heard the cries she sat up and then collapsed back onto the pillows. Hades came over and took one look at the baby in my arms and instantly fell in love. I held my little niece or nephew in my arms and examined its bruised body and it was a little girl. I was overwhelmed with happiness and couldn’t believe that I had helped give birth to my niece. Mother quickly healed Zelena with a healing spell and when I came back from cleaning the baby up, my younger sister was sitting up in bed and Hades was sitting in an chair next to her. Mother had come over and took her granddaughter into her arms. Zelena looked up and asked Mother the questioned every new mum asks when her child is born.

         “What is it?”

“It’s a little girl. You have another daughter.”

Mother placed the new little daughter into Zelena’s arms and she and Hades admired their new addition.

“Zelena, that’s wonderful. Now you can give me sons to inherit my throne.”

I looked at Mother and then back at Zelena. I didn’t want to be the one to break Zelena’s heart but I would have too because it was too painful for Mother. Her elder sister had told her when she had Zelena. You see Mother went through the same labor process when giving birth to Zelena and every time she got pregnant after that, it ended in miscarriage and pain. I decided that I would have to tell Hades and Zelena.

“Zelena, I’m afraid that I have to tell you something.”

“What is it?”

“I think that it might be a good idea to not have anymore children.”

Zelena just stared at me with her blue eyes and held her newborn daughter close to her chest. Hades stared at me as well and so did Mother. I felt as if all of them just hated me in that moment, it felt like the world was crashing down and then Mother spoke.

“Zelena, your sister is right. I don’t think it’s a good idea to have anymore children.”

“You had more children after me.”

“I never physically gave birth to them. I miscarried them and that’s different. Zelena the same thing happened to me when I gave birth to you.”

“Zelena, you almost died. The only way for you to have any more children is to use a surrogate.”

“What does that mean?”
