Fighting For You

Not having someone, that’s the worst curse imaginable. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lost the one you love, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to love. Some people have never been loved and some don't have anyone to love. Not having someone is the worst curse ever thought. My mother once said that love is weakness but today not having love is weaker.

1. The King's Daughter

I once said ‘I’m never going to get my happy ending.’ Holding my newborn baby daughter in my arms was my happy ending. My happy ending wasn’t having a daughter with my sister’s husband and my husband; my happiness was feeling at home in the world.

It was a great day. Today was the day I brought King Robin a daughter into the world. It was his first daughter and everyone was happy when they heard the great news. I held her in my arms and felt so wonderful. My little girl, my baby was in my arms. My sister came in with Roland on her hip and she smiled at me when she saw the baby in my arms.

“Zelena she’s so beautiful.”

“Thank you Regina. Look at her, she looks just like her daddy.”

“Robin will be pleased with his daughter.”

“Regina, I’m sorry. I know you love him.”

“Zelena, he clearly loves you. Robin spends all his time with you. Robin loves you Zelena. Why do you think he married you first?”

“Because I was pregnant with his son”

“I’m not arguing you with. Roland needs a nap and Henry just broke his leg. Then, Michael’s fussy.”

“Your boys are a handful aren’t they?”

“Yes your son Isaac isn’t any better.”

“Regina, stop. How is my boy?”

“He’s not doing good. His fever hasn’t broken and his eyes are still closed.”
“He’s dead isn’t he?”

My sister put Roland down on the floor and the boy tottered off to Isaac’s toy chest. Regina took my daughter out of my arms and placed her in the silver cradle. Then, Regina embraced me in a big hug. I began crying and tears streamed down my face. My son died the same day my daughter was born. Isaac was Robin’s firstborn. Now Roland would become king or maybe our daughter would be queen.

“Robin is burying him isn’t he?”

“Yes, I’m so sorry.”

“I have my daughter.”

“What is her name?”
“Arianna Cora.”

“Greek for Silver Heart. Why silver heart?”

“Because her mother has a heart of darkness and her father a heart of gold.”

“That’s beautiful.”

“Go on your boys need their mother.”

Regina kissed my cheek and picked Roland up before walking out the door. I climbed out of bed didn’t even acknowledge my daughter and walked over to the window. Robin was riding home as fast as he could on his black steed. When he reached the castle he climbed up the ladder and climbed through my window. He took me into his arms and kissed my lips.

“Oh how I love you Zelena”

“It’s a daughter.”

Robin sat down in a chair and gasped for breath. I walked over and gathered Arianna into my arms. I placed her in her daddy’s arms and Robin fell in love instantly. She was so sweet and so tiny. Robin was so much in love. He looked up at me and then down at his baby.

“What’s her name?”

“Arianna Cora Hood.”

“The name of a true queen.”

“She’ll be queen but Roland is your firstborn son.”

“The eldest child of my first wife is the next ruler.”

“Robin, I love you so much.”

“I love you too Zelena.”
