And then there's Emma

Emma Berg seems to be a normal girl and a good student. But the day her family plans to go to America to escape the nazis invading Denmark, a letter comes. A letter addressed to her. Emma Rachel Berg. It says she has been accepted to a school in Massachusetts. A school she never applied to. A school called Ilvermorny. A school... of magic.

4. The Confession

It was morning, time to tell my parents about the letter. I cautiously approached Maman as she was unpacking and tapped her shoulder.

"Yes, Darling? Are you alright?" she asked.

"Yes, of course." I took a deep breath. "Maman, our last day in France, I got a letter. And ... it was a little different than others I've gotten." I handed it to her with a trembling hand. She read it, and then said,

"Oh! darling! This ... this is wonderful, but, ah, strange. Where is it from?"

I shook my head. "I don't know," I told her. "It just said Ilvermorny School of Magic."

"Well, I certainly will be sending you to this school, not another. You know, your Great-Aunt Cecile was a very strange person. Perhaps she was magical!"

"Perhaps," I replied, relieved at Maman's reaction and that I had gotten this out of the way. Calmed, I went on with my day happily.
