Peculiar Poetry

Poetry with and without reason and rhyme.
Strange is what I strive for.
Expect lyrics and limericks, free verse and format.
Be prepared for bubbly and boiled, terrifying and horrifying.
Keep an eye out for those that provoke your thoughts, and some that bear no thought at all.
Many written for class, and others without much of it.
Feel free. There are no boundaries. Just think.
Consider, Ponder, Wonder, Imagine.
Argue, Oppose, Debate, Defend.
Perhaps you will be offended.
That's good.
Think about that.
Learn more of what you think.
How you think.
Take what you can from what you hate.
I don't seek to preach.
I only speak my mind.
A mind most peculiar.

16. "Art?"

The painting, a magnificent work of art

A fact that we all accept.

Vibrant colors brought forth and brushed in strokes

Molded with form and depth.

But sculptures are molded with form and depth

So it's art, as I understand

Pieces that astound and boggle the mind

Created with mere human hands

But music is created with mere human hands

Pure art with every blow and pound.

Soothing melodies blooming from pipes and bells

Arousing meaning through sound.

But singing arouses meaning through sound

A wondrous art form as well.

Words intertwined with such perfect tone

A portrayal that comes from oneself

But actors portray what comes from oneself

It's an art that's difficult to teach.

Their person transforming into one of another

And showing emotions through speech.

But poetry shows emotions through speech

Art that has inspired and offended.

Words sewn together with diligence and care

And every single move is intended.

But with dance, every single move is intended

As much you as art can be.

Feet leap and prance, arms wave like the ocean

This art is of the body.

So who is to say fashion isn't art?

And costuming is just for fun?

That cooking is merely a pastime?

Or sketches can be made by anyone?

Makeup is a fad for Instagram

And philosophy is just mumbo jumbo.

Interior design is only a paying job

And just leave playwriting to the pros.

So you mean to say that some people don't see

The value in these forms of art?

Yet they look at a dot on a canvas

And can somehow take that to heart?
