9. Forgiveness

I followed Mother out of the garden and into the castle. We walked down the hall of paintings, the hall of mirrors, and a hall of flowers and finally came to a dark hallway with nothing but lanterns on stone. We came to a prison cell that had bars made of diamond and inside was a little boy.

“Mother what has this boy done to deserve death?”

“He isn’t a boy, he is an elf.”

“What has he done?”

“He committed three crimes; he cheated on his wife while she was with child, he killed that child after it was born, he killed his wife and he stole magic. He stole an anti-aging spell. That’s why he looks like a boy.”

Mother opened the cell and walked in. She took a petal off the flower and stuffed it into the man’s mouth. She stepped out of the cell and took a step back pulling me along with her. A bright light flashed and then there the man was on his deathbed, fixing to wither away. She tore a grain of sand sized petal piece off for me and I stuffed it into my mouth. I was engulfed in a bright light and appeared with shoulder length hair, a huge bosom and a pimple free face.

“Mother how to do I look?”

“You look to be only a couple years older. We’ll have to go to the hall of time to find out your real age. Actually it should restore you to your original age like it did the elf.”

“Ok good I’m 18. Now can we go down to the bar?”

“Actually you need to get ready for the ball. I invited, and you father knows, I invited a few suitors and your two aunts. They will be attending via the various mirrors scattered around the ballroom. They will be holograms and able to communicate with the people.”

“Mom, I understand what they did but they’re your sisters?”

“Regina took you from me and Rebecca she refused to tell me where you were. So she was aiding Regina in the crime. I can’t forgive them for this.”

“Mom, are they evil? Is kidnapping me the only crime? Will they do it again? I’m eighteen and I’ve forgiven, I forgive.”

Mother took my hands into hers and she looked at me with her big blue eyes. I could feel her staring into my brown ones. Her hands felt cold and her lips were blue. I stared at her and I thought she was dying again. I didn’t know what was going to happen next and I felt scared. Mom stared at me and she didn’t say what I expected her to say.

“If you forgive, then I guess I should forgive. Come one Lizzie, we have to get you ready for your birthday party.”
