I stood in the rain under an umbrella wearing my sister’s favorite red dress. When we were younger we had promised each other one thing. If she died first I would wear her red dress. If I died first she would wear my favorite green dress. Today my sister is lying in a coffin wearing my green dress. I didn’t expect her to die so soon. My red hair hangs down my shoulders in dreads, my black boots are muddy but I don’t care. My sister was dead; a part of me lay buried with her today.

5. A Pirate Ship and A Baby

I didn’t know where Arianna was staying but I think I had an idea. I parked my car at the docks and walked to the Jolly Roger. The boat had been painted yellow and I could hear Mila, Liam and Jack running around below deck. Killian was trying to round them up for bed and Emma was trying to get Arianna to go to sleep. I knocked on the hatch with my foot and took a step back.

Killian opened the hatch and smiled. I could see little Mila peeking out from behind her daddy. I smiled at her and she giggled. Damn that little girl was so cute.

“EMMA! Zelena’s here.”

“Let her in.”

Killian took his daughter’s hand and disappeared down the hallway. I followed and watched my step very carefully. I followed him down a narrow tunnel and into the main part of the ship. A big bed laid in the corner for Killian and Emma. A wooden crib was in the corner and Arianna was sleeping in it. Jack and Liam shared a big bed with bars. Mila slept in the other corner under a pink curtain.

“I never understood why you didn’t just move into Emma’s house?”

“When Emma and I married we agreed we would live on the ship until our eldest was seven. Liam and Mila are six and Jack is four. Only one more year and our house will be on land.”

“Emma is Arianna’s room at Regina’s still decorated.”

“Yes nothing has been moved. Your house burned down.”

“It burned down, what happened to all my things? ”

“We only could save the cradle, the rattle and a few photos. We also saved your slippers. Why didn’t you stay here?”
“After our bout with the Evil Queen, I decided to raise my daughter without magic.”

“She was only six months old when you left.”
“She was a year old when she died. I wish I could take Arianna to New York but she was made by magic. She can’t live without it.”

Emma handed me a few of Arianna’s items and I decided since my house was gone I would move into Regina’s.

“What happened to the cradle and the rattle?”
“At Regina’s.”

I picked Arianna up into my arms and placed her into the baby carrier that Emma had gotten out of the closet. I picked Arianna up and slung her bag over my shoulder. Once I left Emma and Killian’s she would become my full responsibility until I could bring back the dead.
