Today, Tomorrow, Forever

The birds chirp outside my window and wake me up from my beautiful dream. As I was dreaming I dreamt of a strange figure in a hood that seemed to be my fiancée. You see this afternoon I will marry a man that I don’t know. I don’t want to marry him but my mother gave me no choice. Last year I was ready to marry my lover Daniel, Mother found out and crushed his heart in front of me. I will never forgive her ever.
The birds chirp as my get me ready for the family breakfast, more commonly known as the royal breakfast. My favorite maid, Esme braids my hair and pins it in place with a silver comb as Megan shows me an array of dresses. My other maid Kate, whom I don’t like, polishes my shoes and Kaila makes my bed and cleans my room. I have four maids to do my bidding and a castle full of servants. These fours maids will be moving with me and I will bid all the others goodbye.

2. Sisterly Bonding

I quickly run up the stairs and into my bedroom. It was time to change into my morning dress. Every day I would wear a dress to breakfast, my morning dress, after noon dress, today I would wear a wedding dress, ball gown and evening gown. Six dresses would be worn today and the day would be perfect. I change out of my blue dress with Esme’s help and slip into the amber dress. Esme lets my hair down and pulls it back into an elegant ponytail with brown curls at the ends. She puts an orange flower ring on my head and then Kate slips my brown shoes onto my feet. Kate and Kaila help me stand and follow me down to the gardens. I was to meet Zelena there for a one on one chat.

I run down the staircase and push open the secret door to my secret garden. The blue, purple, pink, yellow, white and orange flowers are simply elegant and I will miss them so much. I pick a handful of sunflowers and press them to my face. I want to collapse onto the bed of flowers like I did in the meadows but I couldn’t. I needed to compose myself, as a queen for that was what I would soon become. I round the corner and stumble across Zelena wearing a hunter’s green morning dress with a brown corset that is worn outside the dress.

She turns around and spots me. She waves me over and I walk over with grace. I hand her the sunflowers and she hands me daisies. We always had fun when we were younger but today was a very different day. I was getting married to a man I didn’t know.

“You’re getting married.”

“I know I have to leave you. I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving you.”

“What dresses are you wearing today?”

“The blue one, this one, royal red and white, wedding, sapphire and silver then finally my maroon riding suit.”

“I’m wearing my emerald one, this one, my white and black, my pink maid of honor, my green and gold, then finally my sapphire with white corset for riding to bid you au revoir.”

“I will miss you Zelena.”

“I’ll miss you as well sis.”

“So what do you want to talk about? We have a whole day to chat”

“What jewelry are you wearing tonight?”
“The wedding dress, I haven’t seen so I might just wear my diamond drop earrings and the necklace my unnamed fiancée sent me a few days ago.”

“I’m wearing my silver locket that my late husband gave me. I might wear my emerald earrings as well.”

“No Zelena, wear the sapphires, they look better with your hair and your carrot top head.”

“Don’t do that. You can’t talk. Your full of it.”

“Carrot head.”

“Full of it.”

Zelena sprung up from her seat and I soon found myself chasing her around the gardens. We start dancing and singing all around the garden. I scream she screams and I remember life from when we were young. I catch up to my sister and wrap my arms around her waist. She squeals and we collapse on to the ground. We are in a heap of laughter and then I hear a voice. I think its Mother.

“What in tarnation?”

I stand up and help Zelena to her feet. I curtsey and smile, as Mother looks infuriated. I look up and see the sun high in the sky and realize the time. It was noon and lunchtime. I would be married at six and my dear fiancée would arrive at five and I was to be in my room getting ready when he arrived. He wasn’t allowed to see me and I wasn’t allowed to see him.

“Sorry Mother, we were just having some fun.”

“You don’t even have time to properly dress for lunch.”

“Sorry Mother.”

“Don’t apologize. Hurry up and get changed. I’ll have to use magic unless you want to use yours.”

“We will Mother.”

I engulfed myself in a cloud of purple smoke and emerged wearing my red silk dress covered with white lace. I pulled on the matching gloves and found myself looking like a younger version of my mother. Mother always had to dress me in clothes from when she was the Queen of Hearts. Don’t worry I had dresses from when I was the Evil Princess. I turned around the in the garden and found Zelena wearing her black dress covered with white lace. She looked like me except she wore black with her red hair. I was wearing red with my almost black hair.

“Mother why do we have to wear fancy dresses at luncheon?”
“Regina normally I would let you wear five dresses or four a day but darling we have guests coming at lunch.”

“Yes Mother.”
