Shift in Reality

Carrie Kiss is the new girl in a perfectly normal town or so it seems. Living beside the woods has been the ideal scenery for starting anew. That is until she gets an unexpected guest. Because Carrie has a secret. One that has her running away from everything she once knew and believed.

Liam Kimber is the resident badass. Somewhat of a loner, no one dares to cross him at least if they value their life. Apart from being the son of an Alpha, he is the strongest and most brutal werewolf of them all.

What happens when these two people, both attempting to escape their destiny, cross paths? Let's just say, sparks will fly.

17. Wolfing things up

Liam left before Carrie could wake up. He had already called for a pack meeting expatiating on the importance, but not explaining why at the earliness of the hour he chose. Every member of the pack arrived apart from the cubs, which were still little. He could feel the tension and alertness his call had had on everyone and he was thrilled to disturb them all, he thrived on it. Especially now that he was more than happy.

"Some Rogue wolves, down south are planning something big Alpha. I encountered them and I was nearly killed because of the number of them. I narrowly escaped."

Liam addressed his father; he was the leader after all. He had to pay him his due respect.

"So that's why you have been uncalled for? But why do you seem so cheerful?"

Nothing went past the Alpha, he knew something must have happened to Liam to make him less brutal and not proposing war...something that when mixed together could spell Kissie. He inspected his son well and his eyes widened. He had bonded fully with Carrie, he would have smiled and congratulated his son if not for the seriousness of the matter. He looked to Mera who looked worried.

This news Liam had brought them, just made things more complicated. The news about the Rogues brought worry amongst them, but the elders knew that this was a mere distraction next to the big war that would hit their way soon, something unexpected and one they weren't even sure they could ever be prepared for when it came.

"Woke up on the right side of the right bed. So I just say we be careful and on our guards, for whenever they strike. We can take them down."

Everyone looked at Liam in wonderment; normally he would go for them going after them right away. What was his deal?

"Those rogue wolves were once members of our pack long ago, but they didn't want to live the way we do, they wanted the humans to fear them, killed the innocent and had a thirst for power that could only lead us to our end. So our ancestors fought against them on the deal, that whichever side that lost would leave the pack and be banished from here forever."

Nikki's mother explained to everyone. Not before long they started strategizing and talking about how they would protect and defend their home from the invaders when the time came. By the time the darkness had cleared the sky completely, they were done with planning and everyone headed back to their homes or designated destination.

Liam changed into the wolf and raced to Carrie's cottage and let himself in. She was still asleep, but he knew anytime now she would stir so he positioned himself right in front of her face, wanting to scare her, he put on a growling face.

She moaned and stretched a bit, before slowly opening her eyes, first she looked at his face before it registered and she sat up quickly with a shrieking scream leaving her mouth. Before her hands flew to her mouth and checked the empty space beside her on her bed fanatically searching for Liam.

She turned to look at the wolf, which was seating on his hind legs like an obedient dog, with eyes that looked amused and seemed to be laughing at her. Her hands dropped to her chest and clutched there has she reprimanded him.

"Think you're so funny."

The wolf growled in agreement, and the last of fear and shock left Carrie has she shook her head in amusement, no wolf should understand a human, they were wild and meant to be savage, maybe he had belonged to someone before.

The wolf jumped onto her bed, and licked her face, making her laugh. Before he jumped off, took the edge of her shorts in his mouth and pulled gently, asking her to follow him which she understood, when she got up, the wolf walked ahead and she followed him to her kitchen. It was clear that meant he was hungry.

She set about making breakfast for them, wondering when Liam had left, but she didn't take offence maybe to go see his parent and explain what had happened for his absence.

The wolf had her feed him his food, by sitting down and resting his big head on her laps, while she passed down bacon and the sorts from the plate she had piled with their food. He followed and kept her company while she lazily took a bath soaking herself up in cherry scented bubbles, she and the wolf even engaged in a bit of soap foam battle, where she flicked soap unto him and he did do the same with his nose onto her face.

After dressing up in walking comfortable clothes, she and the wolf went outside to take a stroll through the woods, while she conversed with him and told him about her life so far. She even stopped at one point, crouched and kissed his head before saying "I love you so much." She then got up and they continued strolling. Of course, the wolf was in thrills and even more so knowing she loved both of his forms.

He was glad that she wasn't questioning where Liam had gone and had just placed it has him going to explain his absence to his family. Only if she knew he was with her.

Once they reached her cottage clearing, the wolf pounced on her and took her to the floor, feeling playful, he started licking her face despite her protesting, when he stopped he laid on the floor beside her a minute later she had the wolf on his back, has she tickled and rubbed him down, as her revenge... but the wolf was enjoying himself immensely.

They went inside and not more than five minutes later someone knocked on the door. Carrie's heartbeat picked up, hoping it was Liam and went back to normal, having conflicted feelings, she had missed the wolf and now she was spending time with him, she didn't want him to run off.

So when she opened the door and saw Bambi and Nikki there, she went through throes of emotional conflict disappointment, relief, happiness and sadness. The wolf would run off, she bet he would.

Nikki and Bambi didn't wait for her to caution them and entered into her house, Bambi talking non-stop

"Let's go to the movies and watch Maze Runner."

The wolf growled from where he was lying in front of the fire, stopping both Nikki and Bambi who turned to look at it, wide-eyed. Carrie laughed nervously and said trying to be funny,

"I've got company."

The wolf got up and rubbed himself round her legs, baring his fangs at Nikki and Bambi, making Carrie nervous, and not wanting harm to come across her friends. She let her hand touch his head and rubbed it soothingly, but that didn't faze him.

To Carrie's surprise, Nikki rolled her eyes while Bambi started giggling, before gushing about how cute this was. The wolf growled again in annoyance and Nikki said

"Okay, okay we're leaving, maybe next time Carrie."

"Yeah sure, sorry about the wolf you know."

"No need to apologise, I can't wait to tell the others."

Nikki said the second part eyes gleaming while looking at the wolf, who growled and sprang at Nikki. Who squealed but was laughing and with a speed that was impossible she and Bambi were out of the door laughingly calling out to Carrie they would see her later.

"Maybe I shouldn't be so comfortable with a wild animal."

The wolf turned to look at Carrie and rubbed himself all over her legs and thighs, letting out soft purrs and giving her puppy dog faces, which just made her laugh and shake her head. She knew that the wolf knew what it was doing, those eyes of his were just too intelligent and he wasn't just any wolf, he was her wolf.

She went on her knees and hugged him, tight, even though it was bigger than her and could easily harm her, she felt safest with him.

"I'll protect us from anything, which comes for me."

She said to the wolf, which was left in confusion over what she had just revealed about herself, the first time she had ever indicated like he had suspected that she was in far more danger than being just another runaway.
