Shift in Reality

Carrie Kiss is the new girl in a perfectly normal town or so it seems. Living beside the woods has been the ideal scenery for starting anew. That is until she gets an unexpected guest. Because Carrie has a secret. One that has her running away from everything she once knew and believed.

Liam Kimber is the resident badass. Somewhat of a loner, no one dares to cross him at least if they value their life. Apart from being the son of an Alpha, he is the strongest and most brutal werewolf of them all.

What happens when these two people, both attempting to escape their destiny, cross paths? Let's just say, sparks will fly.

8. Turning over a new leaf

"Vali come back home."

"Leave me alone, Xiva."

"You have to understand the reason behind why we left you with the humans."

"I am not saying I don't. It is the fact that you expected me to be okay with what you, mother and father did. Your world means nothing to me anymore; here on the human realm is my home."

"But you aren't human. Your people need you. It is time you paid your right has a Princess."

"I will not marry anyone that is not of my own choosing, not to talk about that beast of a thing."

"You once loved him."

"I loved the little boy Zarin had been, not the monster he is now. It is nobodies but your fault, you had to take me away from the only home I knew when I was five, without informing Zarin."

"Love made him the way he is and only you can stop him, from ruining us."

"I don't care. Xiva get out of my head and let me be."

"We are still searching for you. No matter how long it takes, we will find you Vali."

"I have no doubt, but when you do find me, I swear to you. I will be ready."

Carrie shook herself awake. If she hadn't she knew Xiva would have annoyed her to the point where she would have used her powers to block him out of her head, and she couldn't afford that knowing that was what he wanted, to goad her into using her power, so they could trace her location.

"Damn it with you bloody Jivs."

Carrie opened her eyes quickly and sat up. She was in a room she had never seen before and Liam sat across from her on a couch. She took in her surrounding and looked at herself. She had been sleeping on a sofa, her head on a pillow and her body covered. How had she gotten here, last she remembered she had been angrily taking a hike in the forest. Xiva most have knocked her out cold to speak to her, but it still didn't explain the strange house and Liam, who she was still mad at.

"Where am I and what am I doing with you?"

She asked him coldly. Liam hadn't expected to hear her speak so coldly towards him, he was stunned for a minute, something tiny jabbed his heart a sharp pain jolting through his body at her coldness towards him.

He put his head in his palms, shielding his face from her. He had been scared when he had scented her, in his angry tirade, deep out in the woods. Being in his wolf form although angry, he felt himself calming down at the thought he would be seeing her and could hang around her till he calmed down; she had that effect on him.

He had howled like he was dying when he had come across her fallen unmoving form just lying there on the forest floor. He had padded over to her, hearing her heart beating had returned some sanity into him, he sniffed at her, licked her face but she remained unconscious. He had shifted back into human form and had carried her, to his cabin in the woods.

"I saw you knocked out cold on the forest floor. What should I have done, left you there? You're in my cabin."

"If I was in the woods, then why am I in your cabin?"

"Because my cabin is in the woods. Shouldn't you even be thanking me, it's not becoming of you to be this harsh."

"Why should I thank you, when you'll just throw it back in my face? Why should I treat you with feelings you clearly don't deserve from me?"

Liam was in shock, the pain in him growing. She stood up and looked at him one more time saying in a sincere voice contradicting her questioning of him "Thank you." Before she made her way to the door of his cabin and let herself out. Not waiting for him or asking for directions. It was clear she didn't want to be around him, and he couldn't do anything because she was fully justified with her actions.

Still he knew she could get lost, so he did the only thing he could think of and changed into wolf form and took off after her.

Liam had a cabin in the woods. That sounded so horror movie like. She felt butterflies in her tummy thinking of him coming to her rescue once again and how worried he had seemed about her. But it didn't mean she couldn't still remain mad at him. She left his house quickly because, he would be bound to ask her why she had fainted and she was still too disoriented to make up a story and thank God, he had been too distracted to ask her what Jivs meant, even though she could just say it's an expression she and Roni made up, but that would lead to her talking about Roni and a life she wanted to forget because of how much of a sham it all had been.

She found herself being pushed onto the ground of the forest floor and her wolf bounding on top of her to lick all over her face, making her laugh, and push his face away from her, but he simply was stronger than she was.

He finally got off her, and she got up and dusted herself. "What is it with all of you knocking me to the floor today?" She said to the wolf that had frozen unknowingly to her, someone had been the reason why she was out cold on the floor. He felt his blood boil up and he let out a growl. She jumped and looked at him. Laughing it was weird how the wolf understood her and seemed to respond to whatever she said to him, so she tried to assure him. "I had some sort of vision, with someone I care about but I am still mad tends to knock me out cold, if I am not sleeping when it comes." She couldn't bring herself to tell the wolf the truth completely, with its eyes that reminded her so much of Liam's own. She couldn't afford to let the wolf know she was clinging to a humanity that she never had.

She didn't notice that the wolf was leading her back home and just kept talking and conversing with it, until she reached her clearing. She bent down and hugged the wolf, thanking him for showing her the way back home and how lost she would be without him. She then proceeded to invite him inside, when she noticed she had guests.

Nikki and Blaine watched in amusement; how Carrie hugged and was speaking to the wolf, as if she thought it was part human. But they were shocked to see Liam's wolf form so calm and loving towards her, which was quite different to how he acted towards her in his human form. They knew Tony was waging war with Liam and more so now, because of the bond Carrie and the wolf shared.

When Liam noticed the people on her front porch, he fled. Nikki and Blaine wouldn't let him rest now. He felt a twinge of guilt for deserting Carrie, but knew she would just assume it as fear of the other people, because she was just that sweet, maybe now she would be a tad mean to his human form. But for now he was happy, his time with Carrie had made him sombre and happy.

Tony had struck a nerve within him, and tomorrow when Carrie came over to babysit, he swore to be at his best behaviour towards her, so she could like him once again. It was time for him to man up and be able to face the responsibility that came with mating; he was twenty with no mate, when at nineteen he should have already found his mate.
