Shift in Reality

Carrie Kiss is the new girl in a perfectly normal town or so it seems. Living beside the woods has been the ideal scenery for starting anew. That is until she gets an unexpected guest. Because Carrie has a secret. One that has her running away from everything she once knew and believed.

Liam Kimber is the resident badass. Somewhat of a loner, no one dares to cross him at least if they value their life. Apart from being the son of an Alpha, he is the strongest and most brutal werewolf of them all.

What happens when these two people, both attempting to escape their destiny, cross paths? Let's just say, sparks will fly.

20. Secrets always find a way to come out in the end

"You have got to be freaking kidding me!"

Carrie outburst shook the whole house. Lenard and Mera had just gotten into the house and in a flash arrived in Liam rooms because of the angry outburst.

The wolf whimpered, as he watched his mate rage for the first time, fearful of her strength at the moment and no matter how hard he tried to shift into his human form he couldn't. It was like she had made him stay in this form, he needed to be in his human form to comfort her and make her understand, but he couldn't change and real fear hit, as much as he loved his wolf form he still favoured his human form and the thought of not being human again scared him too much, he growled at her in frustration.

"Carrie, Liam what is going"

Lenard paused when he saw a growling mahogany wolf, Liam. With his back hunched in defence mode and a disbelieving looking Carrie, who looked oddly different. Lenard thought Liam had tried explaining their true form to Carrie and started approaching her timidly when Liam's voice in his mind stopped him in his tracks. "She's not human and has trapped me in this form." Lenard blinked and didn't know if he had heard Liam right.

"You are all wolves aren't you?"

All eyes turned on Carrie, who looked defeated and heartbroken. The wolf's heart ached, despite being angry and scared he longed to comfort her and hold her, to make her know things would be alright and it hurt him to see her looking so broken.

Before their very eyes, Carrie disappeared into thin air, leaving the Kimber's stunned, Lenard got a hold of himself first and looked at the wolf and said in all his Alpha authority "You got a lot of explaining to do son."

"She said she's a Jivs."

"A what?" Lenard asked his son

"She's a supernatural being, and she isn't even human."

"That is hard to believe, maybe she's just a powerful witch and they have a name." Mera said

"She explained to me, Earth has two dimensions, and she's from the other dimension. Anyone from Earth comes to it in the human form."

"But what made her angry? If you both were spilling each other's secrets, Liam?" Lenard demanded

"I don't know, and I can't even talk to her because she's had me trapped in this form."

Liam growled after saying that, Lenard and Erin, still couldn't believe what Liam was saying because, it sounded so surreal and unbelievable, but they had seen the proof with their very acute and keen eyes. No normal person disappeared into thin air, even they couldn't.

They watched Liam pace about the room, trying to change back to his human form, getting more and more frustrated when his tries proved to be fruitless. Suddenly with a loud pain howl, he dashed out of his room and out of the house.

They had bonded, so he could find her whenever that wouldn't be a problem. He had to make her understand before it became too late. It didn't matter if he was in his human form anymore, his heart ached because her heart also ached and it was all his fault, without knowing how he could make things easier.

He followed his senses until he found her in the heart of the forest, curled in a ball on the floor, clutching her heart, as she cried and sobbed her heart out, it was so painful for him to hear, he whimpered and his legs crumbled beneath him, due to the sheer force that was her pain, it was crippling him. He fought against it and only because of his determination, he was able to overcome the force that was ripping him apart and made it towards her slowly.

"I see you found the wolves, not long now and I shall find you my beautiful bride, my loyal and forever faithful knights have gone raiding and searching all the wolves spot... soon we would find you and we shall be wedded once and for all."

Zarin words came back to bite her on the ass, the wolves weren't just animals now. They were also humans she had come to love. Her heart had gone through a lot since the truth and all the missing puzzle pieces started falling into place.

She screamed in pain, heartbreak and loss when Liam had touched her, scared she had killed him, she should have told him not to touch her, but no he had to hold her, her heart nearly stopped when he collided with the wall, but he transformed into her wolf before her eyes. She had been scared into shock, he hadn't died but turned into her wolf, the wolf she loved with everything in her... the wolf who she knew she wouldn't have given up even for Liam... but Liam was the wolf. The wolf and Liam were the same people.

Everything started falling into place then and all that had occurred around her, started to make sense, everything and all the emotions she had been holding in for months now gathered into place, ready to be set loose.

Had she run into Zarin's trap by staying with these people who clearly, were from the Jivs realm?

Had they been playing her all along, had they known who she truly was and everything she was running from? Were they innocent? Did Liam even love her? Was the wolf just a lie? Everyone she had made friends with, did they truly care for her?

The answers to all the questions could she really know? She was immersed in doubt, her instinct told her to trust them, but that had failed her once and look where it had left her. But what scared her the most was the thought that Liam nor the Wolf loved her. It would kill the humanity in her, if she had been played for a fool by her heart again and no one would get the last laugh if that was the case, if she had been fooled by them all, they better be wishing it was death who came for them all and not her.

But still she couldn't control nor stop herself from crying, or stop the pain in her heart, she was ignoring the need to find Liam, she longed for the wolf that always came to comfort her in the woods, but they were the same people... she longed for them still, in her brokenness.

All she ever really wanted was true love and not to betrayed.

She heard the soft whimpering cry that only belonged to a canine and saw Liam the wolf approaching her. She looked clearly and she could see Liam in the wolf, the colour the way the wolf moved, it's magnificence, beauty, power and those eyes, the eyes that both man and wolf wore, the eyes that should have given everything away, but she had been too naïve to put it all together, to have questioned everything and made it make sense.

"What do you want?"

She asked the wolf, understanding why it was so intelligent and seemed to understand and comprehend everything. "You." the answer shook and re-vibrated inside her, his voice solidified and more powerful inside her head. Her eyes widened and so did the wolf. He hadn't been expecting for her to hear him, but it was better now.

"I told you, I believe in the supernatural, raised to do so. I believe in you and accept you for whatever you are...but you can't do the same for me."

He told her while he approached her with more ease now, that she had stopped sobbing, but tears were still streaming down her face. She didn't reply him, it hurt him that she couldn't accept him for what he was and would always be...or worse yet in her realm was it some sort of taboo and they couldn't be together.

"I'm still the same person, still your wolf. Everything I feel for you is still the same, I am no different now than I was before and so are you... so what's holding you back."

"How can I believe you? You have been watching me from the very moment I got here. I let you in... How would I know if you're not with him?"

Him, he felt his already battered heart, take more beatings, she had been running from another man. A man that had hurt her so bad and inflicted so much fear and hatred in her...that man could only be one she had loved or may even still love.

"I love you and would never hurt you that would be hurting myself. You complete me, Carrie, I can love no one else, wolves are made to love only one person for their entire life span, and you're mine."

"I don't know, Liam...why did you not tell me from the beginning then? You didn't even tell me after I confessed...you still didn't want to tell me."

"I would have, there are things that have happened between us that even you don't know... I was going to tell you today...but you sped up my confession."

"I have been fooled by another man, I was in love once and I thought he loved me back... but he was just using me for his own selfish reasons, not because he loved me back... his true self, wasn't the person I fell for long ago when we were still little. You could do the same to me, all of you here."

"Look into my eyes and see if all the minutes and seconds I spent with you have all been a lie. How can you think, can you doubt the love that I and the wolf have for you."

"Because I-"

"Why didn't you tell me, you are a Jivs when you told me you love me? The same reason you had thought. We both thought we are humans and feared rejection, but now we both know the truth and here I am still trying and going through the rejection I had feared if I had told you."

She didn't answer him, instead, she went back to sobbing. What he was saying was true, why couldn't she accept her fate and happiness, the love she ever wanted, dangling right there in her face, why couldn't she take the risk? Because she was scared to be hurt again, the process of picking oneself up after heartbreak wasn't an easy task, and she knew this one wouldn't be just heartbreak, it would be the loss of her soul too.

"I love you and I will always stand by you, I am not going anywhere. Just accept me."

"I accept you, I accepted you when you turned into the wolf...I just can't stand another heartbreak, Liam...I will never be the same if that happens."

She said defeated. The wolf had finally reached her, and he nudged her head with his and when she looked into his eyes, she knew he truly loved her, knew he wouldn't hurt, knew he was saying the truth...knew she had found where she belonged and whom to.

The wolf licked her tears away and she let out a small laugh, still sobbing. She gave up fighting back with her emotions and put her arms around its big neck and hugged him, breathing in his scent. They stayed like that till she had calmed down." I love you, Liam."

"I know that you can never lie about loving me to me. So please can you release me from this form, as much as I love you cuddling into me and rubbing my fur. I want to hold you back."

She laughed and squeezed him even tighter, happily accepting him and his love with everything in her, she was trusting her guts that he would always be there for her.
