5. A Little Less Hectic

He tried to say sorry. But I wouldn't let him. His meal still remained untouched, and he claimed he wasn't hungry. I didn't listen, so forced him some vegetables. He was still wearing his black dress coat, and I was getting late so I suggested he take it off and put on something more sensible.  He pushed his tray off to the side.

"Eliza listen, I'm sorry about-" He began.

"Shhh." I interrupted him and quieted him.

There was a large crash from the kitchen, followed by Philip crying so I told him I would be back and left the room. When I came back, Alexander was still sitting up in bed, his nightclothes now on. I felt where his feet were, and sat down on the edge of the bed, as not to sit on them. I grabbed his hand and he looked me right in the eyes.

"We can talk tomorrow after Alexander and James leave for college, and Angelica goes back to Dr. MacDonald. Things will become a little less hectic soon, but for now, just stay put while I put the children to bed. And can you lay yourself down? I'll blow out the candle in here and tell the children to be quiet while you are sleeping." Alexander nodded, I kissed his hand, blew out the candle and left the room to go put the children to bed.
