The Histories of the Nilites

In a universe first-glance that seems like ours, the beginning is nowhere the same. The myths of the beginning of this world start with Nihl, primordial darkness and chaos, and how things go from there. (OKAY, SO THESE PEOPLE DO NOT NOT NOT HAVE INCEST DO NOT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE DNA, OKAY NO DNA, PRIMORDIAL MIST FLOWS THROUGH THEIR BODIES. THEY ARE CONDENSED PRIMORDIAL MIST. NO INCEST. PLEASE NOTE: NO INCEST. THOUGH SOME CHARACTERS ARE STATED TO HAVE DONE HANKY-PANKY, IT IS NOT INCEST, OKAY NONONONONONO INCEST.)

19. The Eternal Winter of Hiems

Throughout Terra, Hiems caused all water to freeze. When Imbrem sent down rain, he turned it into snow, infuriating her to tears, which only caused more snow, turning into blizzards.

The Nihlas, angry at Hiems, grumbled to one another, but did nothing. Vitae, thinking on her feet, sought out Hiems. She found him on top of a mountain, creating ice storms from Imbrem’s rain and tears.

She called out to Hiems, who stopped his storm. She took in his angry face and asked why.

He told her because he was a child of Death, that he would kill everything, he knew. He was the cold part of death, the coldness of a corpse, the coldness of the heart.

Vitae told him that they could combat this by creating a new being. Hiems denied it at first, until Vitae told him she was life, not death. He agreed, and together they pooled their life sources and created a sunny being, very reminiscent of Solis, called Aestas.

Hiems, his winter thwarted, began to melt. Aestas, right after her creation, began to freeze.
