The Histories of the Nilites

In a universe first-glance that seems like ours, the beginning is nowhere the same. The myths of the beginning of this world start with Nihl, primordial darkness and chaos, and how things go from there. (OKAY, SO THESE PEOPLE DO NOT NOT NOT HAVE INCEST DO NOT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE DNA, OKAY NO DNA, PRIMORDIAL MIST FLOWS THROUGH THEIR BODIES. THEY ARE CONDENSED PRIMORDIAL MIST. NO INCEST. PLEASE NOTE: NO INCEST. THOUGH SOME CHARACTERS ARE STATED TO HAVE DONE HANKY-PANKY, IT IS NOT INCEST, OKAY NONONONONONO INCEST.)

16. Creatures in the Water (Briefly Marre)

In her journey, Imbrem did meet with Bestia again, who was talking with Domum about a home for her. When they were done, Imbrem looked into the water below, her own life force, which didn’t seem so lively. She questioned Bestia if she would like to create a beast of the water.

Excited, Bestia and Imbrem went down to the edge of the river. Curious, Domum follows them.

At the edge of the water, Bestia conjures land creatures, and Imbrem adds modified features to them so they could live in the water.

They created a thing that looked vaguely like a lizard, but more rounded and flat. They continued to create creatures of various colors and shapes. Eventually the fish swam away, but the river was now covered in little beasts.

Bestia said she would like to continue, and with Herba’s help, because she said Herba made wonderful environments.

From the creatures swimming at the bottom, few came together to become a being, a bit to Bestia’s dismay. He declared himself Marre, Nihla of sea life, and settled back into the bottom of the river, dispersing back into creatures.

Imbrem departs after the spectacle, leaving Domum and Bestia alone.
