Two Lives. One World.

Two different people, who were supposed to be enemies from the start, fall in love and soon enough, their friends and family are against them. Jacob/OC.

7. The Wolf Falls In Love

It had been two years since Jacob had seen Valerie. The Cullens moved out of Washington. No one else had known where they had moved to, not even Bella or Charlie. Bella had gone off to college, which left Jacob all alone. This left him in a state of depression. His friends couldn't get him to crack a smile or a single laugh. They knew something was wrong, but they weren't sure of the problem was. The last memory he had of Valerie was when she and Bella had visited him in La Push. Her words echoed in his mind, both day and night. He had very many restless nights. He would go for runs and immediately stop, thinking that Valerie would show up. Her words that were said pained him so much that it created a deep ache in his heart. He had never felt something like that before, like a huge part of him had been torn out. Over and over, her voice rang in his mind. He couldn't stop thinking about her. He had to see her; but she didn't live in Forks anymore. He was lost. He then decided to go search for her.

"Thanks for allowing us to stay here Tanya." Edward thanked Tanya with a smile. Tanya didn't mind them staying over. She knew that he and his family needed a place to stay. She was sad to hear about Valerie not being with them. Tanya was a close friend of Carlisle's and would side with him, including his family if there was ever a war. "We heard of her disappearance about six months ago. She was here before then." Said Kate. "We know nothing, except she'll only talk with Jasper and Rose."

"Why us?" Rosalie asked.

"We asked why, but she refused to answer us." Irina answered for her sisters. "She added that you two were the only ones who understood why." Edward was worried about Valerie. It was Spring in Alaska. Hunting season had begun again. It was Emmett's favorite time of the year, but no Cullen went hunting. Everyone sensed Edward's worry because Alice was unable to update on their sister's whereabouts. Carlisle reassured his family that they will find Valerie. Hopefully soon. Edward thought. He had been out running all night, searching throughout the country for their sister. Rosalie figured Valerie must've flown or swam to a different country. Jasper agreed with his sister that Valerie knows they're looking for her. "She'll come back." He assured them.

"Our sister is missing Jasper. There's no way we can track her or communicate with her." Sighed Rosalie.

"Jacob's seen her last." Alice said.

"Oh, yeah... Like that mutt will talk to us." Rosalie rolled her eyes. Edward brought up Bella's name. It was a start somewhere. Well, it was more like Bella and Jacob were their last resort. Of course, Bella would try to start an argument with Edward over the phone when he called. She was pacing back and forth in her dorm room after Edward had explained to her about talking with Jacob. Actually, it had been two years since Bella and Jacob had seen or spoken with each other. After thinking for a minute or two, she agreed to talk to Jacob and hung up the phone. She dialed Jacob's number and waited for three rings until he answered. "Hello?" His husky voice came through on the other end.

"Hey, it's Bella."

"I'm not in the mood to talk Bells."

"It's really—"

"If this is about Valerie, I don't want to talk about her. She hasn't spoken to me in two years. Whatever it is that you and the Cullens are trying to do, it's not going to work. I'm not going to be a part of your plan to get Valerie back. She said so herself that it wouldn't work out between us. She doesn't love me Bella." Before Bella could say anything, Jacob hung up. Furious, she called Edward. The two talked on the phone with Bella having to reiterate what Jacob had told her. Jacob's stubbornness made Edward as equally annoyed like Bella. Edward hung up the phone and told everyone that there was nothing new about Jacob's explanation. Everyone groaned. At this rate, they were never going to find their sister. "Jacob is useless." Rosalie sighed.

"Well that's because he didn't try." A voice said from across the room. It was the smart-ass tone that made everyone turn their heads. It was Valerie. "I heard everything you guys said about me. I know you were all worried about me. I love you all. Though, sometimes I feel that you are always making choices for me; and a girl's gotta make her own choices every once in a while. Leaving was my choice, as well as going to the Volturi and drinking human blood. I couldn't stay in Forks for much longer. I feel bad that I left without saying goodbye. I had to because otherwise I would start crying." Edward was the first to approach her because everyone was planted still in place. It was obvious that he had missed her the most, even more so than Jasper and Emmett. He was relieved to finally have his sister back. Valerie pulled away from the hug and confronted Edward about him being in love with Bella, which she didn't mind. Though, she secretly wished that she and Edward could've been together. Yet, she truly didn't have strong feelings towards him. She had feelings for someone else.

Valerie couldn't be inside the house any longer with the Denali clan and her family. She headed outside, only to hide the tears that were forming. She heard her name being called out and turned to see that it was Rosalie who had followed her outside. "Valerie, be with Jacob." Said Rosalie. "Look, not everyone may agree, but we all just want to see you happy."

"I spoke with Esme before I left. She told me I had two choices. The reason I left was because it was difficult for me to decide at the time whom I wanted. The truth is I'm not ready to settle down just yet. Alice has Jazz, you have Emmett, and Edward... he has Bella." Valerie looked down and sighed.

"Jacob is our enemy, but that doesn't mean he has to be yours. We know how much you care for him Val. We'll support you in every decision you make." Rosalie reached out and gave her sister a hug. Valerie was finally glad that after all these years of living together that they could finally get along. Guess it just took a few decades for Rosalie to warm up to Valerie. "I love him Rose." Valerie said. The two of them retreated inside the house when Edward had asked to speak with Valerie alone. She followed him out to the forest until they stopped at a clearing. She started to speak, but he interrupted her with a kiss. She wrapped her arms around his neck. He pulled her close towards him. "Wait, I thought you love Bella." She looked up at him. Her eyes were still crimson.

"As much as I love you Val, you deserve to be with Jacob. Forget about what everyone else thinks, only I know what you truly want."

"Right. The only support I'm getting is Jazz, Rose, and your mind." She turned away from him. Though she saw their family approach them. "Why am I so different?"

"Edward chose you. He gave you a second chance. Every single one of us wasn't given a choice when we were human. Edward read your mind. He knew you wanted a family again, to be a part of one. Just because we're vampires, doesn't mean we're not a family." Rosalie said.

"What about Bella? She's the perfect fit. She's fallen in love with Edward, not someone who's supposed to be our enemy." Valerie argued. "Maybe I should've stayed away." She stormed off and disappeared into the woods. Again, Edward was determined to follow her when Carlisle stopped him by saying that he should give Valerie some space.

Jacob laid awake in his bed while he stared up at the ceiling, only thinking of Valerie. She had been the one girl he couldn't get out of his mind. He truly hated to admit it to himself that he was in love with her. Though, he couldn't deny the thought either. "Dude, stop thinking about her. She's one of them." Embry Call, one of Jacob's closest friends, had said. Quil Ateara had agreed with Embry. Jacob was irritated because they could not fully understand what he was going through. He stormed out of the house, transformed, and headed into the forest. His friends were being idiots. They knew nothing about love, especially if the person you're in love with is a vampire and a mortal enemy. Though he felt that he couldn't stay mad at them for too long. Jacob could care less about what his friends thought about her. He was in love with her and that was the truth. He missed her smiling face, the sound of her laughter, and the fresh scent of mangoes and strawberries. Just when he thought it was all a dream, he heard a voice call out his name. He thought it was inside his head. "Jacob." The voice was louder now, but still sounded so faint.

Jacob followed the voice to a clearing, which he had entered. The moonlight lit up the entire area; and he was faced with a dark shadow. "Jacob." The shadow spoke and smiled before stepping into the moonlight. There she stood before him. The most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Valerie. Of course she hadn't aged in two years, but that didn't bother him one bit. Jacob went over to her and wrapped his arms around her body. "I can't believe it's really you." He said into her ear as they hugged. Valerie had spent long hours running back to Washington. She wanted to be with him again. "Why did you leave?" The two of them pulled away. Jacob had reached out to caress her soft cheek.

"I thought you'd forget about me." Valerie looked up at him. Jacob shook his head, only to tell her that he couldn't get her off his mind. "I've missed you." She hugged him once more.

"Well, well, well... what do we have here?" A voice emerged from the trees behind them. Valerie and Jacob pulled apart from each other. Paul and the rest of Jacob's friends had arrived. Jacob warned them to leave. "Sam's not here, and you're not the boss of me." Paul smirked.

"Sam put me in charge." Said Jacob.

"You two are fighting like children. You treat each other like enemies, but yet you're family. Just leave Jacob alone. He's a grown man. He doesn't need you berate him." Valerie spoke up. "Aren't you all supposed to be a pack? I mean you fight together right? So why are you singling out Jacob because he found love and you didn't? I get why you have to hate me and my family. Vampires and werewolves aren't meant to get along. If you guys can't handle Jacob having a vampire girlfriend, then that's your problem and not his. So what kind of pack are you if you don't support your pack member? Better yet, you are all a sad excuse to call friends." She took Jacob's hand and led him out of the clearing with his friends left to stand in shock. Jacob told her she didn't have to stand up for him. Valerie wanted to because she too had to deal with her family telling her not to be with him either. "Besides, everyone has to live with the fact that I'm in love with you too."

"You are?" The two of them stopped when Jacob turned to look at her. Valerie nodded and smiled up at him. He kissed her lips just as Valerie wrapped her arms around his neck while they stood in the middle of the forest.
