Outcasts

The girliest boy in school thinks he deserves to be bullied by his classmates and mistreated by his teachers.
It isn't until Papyrus Font sticks up for him that he realizes he doesn't need to change.
There might be someone out there who loves him for who he is.

7. Detention

The principal is a tall lady with straight black hair that barely touches her shoulders. She looks completely devoid of sympathy for the misbehaving students in front of her.

Papyrus is leaning back in his chair, he's completely calm. The boy next to him is the exact opposite. Mettaton is sitting up straight with his eyes on the principal. His palms are sweaty and he can feel his shoulders shaking.

Every few seconds, Papyrus gives him a worried look.

Both stay completely silent until the principal speaks.

"So, what did you do to get here today, boys?"

Papyrus sits up straight. "I corrected a teacher on the dress code."

"Really? I heard that you disrespected a teacher and disrupted a class."

"Is that what he said?"

The principal shakes her head and turns to Mettaton.

"I haven't seen you here before, you're usually a good student."

Mettaton doesn't know how to reply, so he just nods.

"What did you do to get here?"

"I- I don't know. Mr. Wells said I was breaking the dress code but, um," his voice starts to trail off, "I wasn't, so, I don't know..."

The principal frowns.

"Which rule did he say you were breaking?"

"He, um-"

"He said boys couldn't wear makeup," Papyrus interrupted, clearly still angry.

"Well, there aren't any rules against that..."

Papyrus smiled.

"However there are rules against skipping class."

They looked at each other.

She sighs. "I understand that it's hard to face someone after that. I'll talk to him and I'll let you two go."

Mettaton takes a breath of relief.

"I do, however, expect you to be present in the rest of your math classes."

Papyrus groans.

"We only want to ensure you are eligible for college, Mr. Font."

"Yeah, okay," he remarks, sarcastically.

The principal ignores his sarcasm.

"Alright, you can go."

They both get up and leave.

The second the two step out the door, Mettaton looks at Papyrus.

"I don't want to go home."

"What?"

"My dad is gonna be mad that I didn't get a real detention because he thinks that what I did was wrong."

"My dad would've been happy," Papyrus mumbles.

"Do you wanna go to my house? Just for a while."

"Yeah. Just for a while."
