The Last Petal...

He grew up full of prejudice. Was taught he was superior. He knew nothing of other people's feelings, nor did he care. The very idea of love and light made him sneer. But what would you expect, from a beast?

For the Beauty and the Beast competition

10. Nine

Anyone with a brain could see something had changed between Hermione and Draco.

So, naturally, Harry and Ron didn't notice anything.

Hermione was with Ginny in her dorm for a sleepover since it was finally Friday and they had no classes tomorrow.

"What's it like? Living with Malfoy for three months, I mean," Ginny asked

"Oh, it could be so much worse," Hermione answered, her cheeks starting to warm

"Mione, is there something you're not telling me?" Ginny asked, smirking

"No! I tell you everything, Gin," Hermione protested, cheeks aflame now

"You like him!" Ginny cried, jumping up and down with excitement, "I knew it!"

"Shh! Ginny! I don't want everyone knowing I like the Slytherin Prince!" Hermione said, covering Ginny's mouth

Ginny nodded and Hermione released her.

"For the record, he doesn't like me," Hermione said looking at her lap

"Whatever, I can tell he does by the way he looks at you. But if you don't believe me, than fine, believe what you want," Ginny replied, still smirking

Hermione smiled a little, but didn't say anything.

Draco lounged on the couch in the empty dorm.

Blaise was supposed to be here soon for a guys night.

Granger was with the Weaslett for the night. She had left him a note on his bedroom door.

There was a knock on the door and he jumped to his feet.

He opened the portrait hole to reveal Blaise smiling, and holding a duffle bag.

"Ready to have some fun?" Blaise asked

"Always!" Draco replied with a smirk

They left all their stuff in the dorm and walked back out into the silent castle.

Their footsteps echoed through the corridors.

"Where are we going?" Draco asked peering around the dark passageways

"I found it! The Room of Requirement!" Blaise answered

Draco groaned.

"Dude, I spent most of my sixth year in there! What are we going to do?" Draco asked in a whisper

"You'll see! Just wait!" Blaise responded also whispering

They arrived at the room of requirement.

Blaise stepped in front of the blank wall and a door appeared.

They stepped over the threshold and into the dark room.

"Where are we, Blaise?" Draco whispered

"Just wait for it," Blaise whispered back

The door opened again.

"What are we doing here, Ginny?" asked a girl, "it's after hours! If we get caught, we're dead,"

"Relax, Mione, we're not gonna get caught!" The Weaslett whispered back

"Ginny!" Blaise whisper-shouted

"Blaise? Are you here?" The Weaslett asked

"Yeah! I brought, Draco too. You brought Hermione?" Blaise said acting as if he wasn't there

He couldn't see where Blaise had gone. The room was still pitch black.

"Granger? Why is Granger here?" Draco asked with a small rise in his voice

"Is Malfoy here? Ginny? What's going on?" Granger's voice came from his right

"Blaise! Turn on the lights already!" The Weaslett demanded

"Okay, okay," Blaise muttered from a few feet away

Light flooded the room. It was a small room with a movie screen and places to lay down.

"Hey! A popcorn maker!" Blaise yelled running to a corner of the room with a weird looking machine and small box of drinks

Soon enough, the room was filled with the mouthwatering smell of delicious popcorn.

"Mione! Come here and help me put on a movie! This is muggle stuff, and I don't know what I'm doing!" Ginny called

Granger got up from the pile of pillows and blankets she was sitting on.

The two girls debated on a movie while Draco went over to Blaise.

"What are we doing?" Draco asked

"We're watching a movie with my girlfriend, and your future girlfriend," Blaise replied smoothly

"My future girlfriend?! What are you talking about? Me and Granger?!" Draco protested

"Yep. I see the way you look at her. Just admit you like her and she's changed you," Blaise said, "I know you agree, you're just too stubborn to say so,"

The four settled into the bed of pillow and blankets. Draco eyed Blaise and the Weaslett as they cuddled closer to each other.

Granger looked as uncomfortable as he did.

They made eye contact over the couple and Draco nodded politely as the film started rolling.

It was about a girl named Belle, who had to fall in love with a prince, who had been cursed into a Beast, in order to make everyone in the castle human again. The Beast was supposed to love her and earn her love in return.

It was very sappy in Draco's opinion, but Granger seemed to love it.

He watched her eyes harden as a man named Geston, tried to kill the Beast. Than, watched them soften again as Belle and the Beast had a heart-to-heart moment.

Draco half wanted to go hug her when he saw a few tears roll down her cheeks as the Beast took his last breath.

But the moment passed quickly when the Beast was surrounded in golden light and turned back into the prince, alive and healthy. Although he did need a haircut. His hair was rather lengthy.

Hermione saw Draco looked shocked as the Beast transformed.

It was like he didn't believe there could be a happy ending.

She was relieved that he hadn't made some rude comment about the movie. After all, Beauty and the Beast was one of her favorites.

When the movie ended she looked over and saw that Ginny and Blaise had fallen asleep. She smiled at the sight.

Blaise had Ginny pulled protectively to his chest and Ginny's head was tucked under his chin. They looked so happy together.

She looked up and saw Draco watching her.

"So do we stay here? Or do we wake them up and go back to the dorms?" Draco asked her with a slight smirk

"I don't really care. Do you wanna just stay here? I don't think I could bare pulling these two apart," She said glancing down at the two

Draco grunted and laid down.

Hermione did the same.

All night long, she pondered the change of Draco Malfoy.

Was he still a pompous git? Or was he the opposite?
