~Present time~

"And imma put up a fight for it,
Never give up a love like this.

Don't make me choose,
Between my love and my life.

Stay here with me,
I won't tell a soul.

Just a shot in the dark that you just might,
Be the one I've been waiting for my whole life"  I write in my lyric book.

Then, I start wondering what its like to see things in a different perspective. Guess it happens often when your parents are awfully strict. There's no fun or games, just everyday life spent by studying.
Good thing my parents finally allowed me to study designing. Even so, it took months of convincing and sullen looks.

I adore designing as much as I enjoy going out. I hate to be cooped up in my room all day. As you can guess, I just want to be free.

Eventhough the meaning behind my name is singer, I am definitely no singer. In fact, I'm pretty sure once I start singing, the whole world would collapse as if everything was made out of glass. But that doesn't stop me from singing my heart out when I'm ecstatic.

"Riya, are you even listening?" Kyushi asks while waving a hand infront of me.

"Honestly, no. Sorry" I responded with honesty. It's not my fault. I couldn't stop thinking about my application to my dream college in France, whether it was accepted or not. It has always been a dream of mine to study in France ever since I was a child. There came a stage at teenagehood when I had to ignore my dream just to please my parents but even so I had finally managed to gather up all my courage just to convince them.

"When are you going to get over him?" Kyushi asks with exaggeration hidden behind her tone.

Kyushi was very obviously talking about my many hopeless crushes on Deepak, the schools most popular jock. Other than being most known, he's also extremely built with a good sense of humour and to add that all up, he's got the brains. What a perfect combination, I seem to think all the time eventhough he's only talked to me once but then again, that's a huge leap from getting noticed.

"You're still thinking about him, aren't you?" Kyushi asked again this time with a hint of annoyance.

Unlike me, Kyushi doesn't get interested in boys easily and she'd much rather avoid getting involved in the schools popularity contest held by snoobish popular girls. She'd very much prefer burrying her face in her all time favourite books which she'd tried to get me to read many times already but me being me, would agree and leave it at the corner of my bedside table to collect dustmite.

"I'm not thinking about him Kyushi. I just sent my end year pre test results to the designing college in France and I'm eager to find out if I got accepted or not" I said right before going into class. Kyushi was about to protest something but then decided not to when she saw Ms. Meera coming into the class.

"The monster looks disturbed today. I bet you 10 rupee she's going to let out all that anger on us" Kyushi bet with a smirk.

"No way. She might actually go easy on us today" I disagreed strongly and took out 10 rupee despite my confidence.

"Everyone SHUT UP!!" Ms. Meera yelled while hitting the longest ruler I have ever seen on the teachers desk. By this time, I was very sure it was gonna snap in pieces. It was either that ruler or that desk.

"Pay up" Khushi whispers to my ear. I roll my eyes and push the money to Khushi's table.
