10. Chapter 9

"Thanks mum" I say while hugging my mum. She surprisingly agreed to let me stay over at Kyushi's house.

When I reached my best friends house, she greeted me and my mum at the front door. My mum, as I figured, insisted that she followed me to the front door of Kyushi's house.

"Hello Kyushi" my mum greets with a slight wave.

"Hi auntie. Mum is inside cooking" Kyushi says with smile. Just as my mum was about to go in, Kyushi's mum comes out to greet my mum.

Kyushi and I decide to leave the two mums to chat, knowing they've got a lot to catch up on.

Once I got into Kyushi's room with her following behind me, she says "Great. They'll most probably talk for hours now and we can't leave without your mum asking where. My mum knows we're going out but not where. She usually doesn't ask where and she'll only come and check on us once your mum leaves"

"So what are you proposing we do?" I ask, knowing she was up to something.

"I think, we could still be early if we use the back door. I could leave a note stating to my mum that we left early" she says with her thumb rubbing her chin.

"Okay" I say nonchalantly with a shrug while Kyushi started working on the note.

"As long as we don't get caught" I add.

"Yeah, okay. Come on" she says while closing her room door and leaving the note on her room door.

Both of us sneak down the stairs, hopping not to make any noise. Then, Kyushi takes the spare back gate key and quietly opens the lock on the gate.

After hours of searching,  we finally find Deepak's car parked a few blocks away from Kyushi's house. I hop in the front passenger seat, while Kyushi's sits at the back with Kiran.

I greet Deepak with a kiss on his cheek.

"Okay, thanks for the kiss and all but please fasten your seat belts and don't do that while I'm driving" he says nervously causing me to giggle.

"You're so cute" I say to him.

"How dare you call me cute?" He says, eyes glued  on the road as he has started driving.

"I have all the rights to call you cute" I say with a cheeky smile. He was still facing the road but I could see that he was annoyed.

I decide to turn on the radio to block the silence.

"Who gave you the rights to turn on my radio?" He asks while turning off the radio.

"You did, in your mind" I said while waving my hands up and down and doing creepy sound effect.

He bursts out laughing and pinches my unlucky right cheek.

I groan in pain and start scolding him while he turns on the radio to block my nagging and to make up to me.

Right after the commercial on the radio ends, my favourite song comes on. Soch Na Sake, sung by Arijit Singh. I love his voice. His voice is the kind of voice that once you hear it, you'll fall in love with it. The beat of this song gets me moving my shoulders all the time.

My idolizing over Arijit Singh stops the minute I hear my boyfriend's voice.

"...Tere liye duniya chod di hai, tujhpe hi sans aake rukhe, main tujhko kitna chahta hoon, ye tu kabhi soch na sake"

The meaning behind those lyrics are "I left the world for you. My breath comes and stops only on you. How much I love you, you will never be able to imagine that"

"Your voice" I say with my mouth wide open.

"Is it that bad?" He asks with a sheepish look.

"No! It's melodious" I say with a wide smile.

"That's a pretty strong word" he says giving me one of his eyebrow raised signature looks.

"It suits for a strong voice like yours" I saw in awe.

He continues singing while I lip sync along. When it comes to the girl part he keeps looking over at me.

"You have a pretty sweet voice too" he says while looking at our right to turn.

"That's not my voice. It's Kyushi's" I say with a chuckle.

"Sorry" she apologises as she was singing too loud.

Deepak doesn't reply and just laughs at his mistake.

"Well, you're definitely good at head bobbing" he says trying his best to compliment me at something when I'm honestly just a potato.

"Thanks?" I say questionably with a giggle and take out my seat belt as we were already at our destination.

Kyushi and Kiran goes in before us as Deepak pulled me away to talk to me.

"Stay close to me, okay? It's not safe in there" he says while I just nod as I was too eager to go in.

The minute we go in, the cigarette and alcohol smell strongly hits my nose and I stop in my tracks to recall what was happening. I dont know why I was so eager to go in this horrible place. Deepak squeezes my shoulder and mouths "Are you okay?". I nod with a smile in return. We find a more secluded place in the bar which was next to the alcohol counter.

"Deepak" I yell over the pounding music and when he doesn't look at me, I tug at his shirt. So far I've only had one drink which was the one with very less alcohol in it but I am already starting to feel dizzy.

"Yeah?" he replies and moves closer

"I need to go wee" I say in his ears. I didn't know whether it was the alcohol or me just being very forward.

"I can't hear you, it's quite dark" he says quoting Spongebob. I give him a blank stare while he goes into an uncontrollable laughter.

"Wait, wait. I got a better one" he pauses to catch his breath then continues "You said you needed to go wee, so I should answer... oui oui"

He continues to laugh while I get annoyed.

"Deepak!!" I say

Deepak smiles at me and leads me to the restroom. He insisted not to drink as he had to drive and take care of me. He stood a few metres away from the restroom waiting for me.

Once I was done with my business, I washed my hands and looked in the mirror. As expected, I looked really bad.

I went out of the restroom and looked around for Deepak. Everything is still very dizzy.

In split seconds, this random guy comes infront of me and all I could feel was a sharp needle going into my arm.
