“I forgot, I have to tell my boss that I’m leaving, pick up my wages and holiday pay and then find somewhere to live.’

“Why don’t you just move in here with me?’

“I could but I’d rather have a place of my own Gillian you must understand.’

“If I can buy you a bigger place would you move in with me?’

“Where to Billy?’

“Maybe somewhere like Blackpool, they have lots of tourists who would all love your pies and sandwiches.’

“I don’t make sandwiches.’

“We are going to sell them and make a fortune. We are going to cash in on the tourist trade Gillian’ you can bake the bread I will prepare and cook the chicken and stuffing and ham in the new shop. We will make salad and peas pudding then make the sandwiches. It will be a little gold mine I tell you.’ In the sitting area we can sell ham or chicken salad on a plate or sandwiches.

“I want you to put your shop on the market Gillian; I will call you when we are ready to move into the new place.’ “Will you do it?’

“Yes, yes I will do it Billy.’ It sounds like a great business plan.’

“That’s my girl; I will phone you later tonight okay.’

He gave her a long lingering kiss then hurried out for the bus.

Once the bus came he paid his fare using one of the half crowns from his pockets and sat at the back with the canvas bag full of notes beside him. The bus pulled away from the bus station. He was on his way home with a fortune and a new life awaited him. He closed his eyes and went to sleep. The bus headed down the motorway back to the North East where Billy would be safe.

It was three days later when the robbery was discovered. The police had little to go on; there were no clues and no evidence. They hauled in all the local thieves and grasses but nothing was coming to light. Who ever had done this Robbery had just vanished.

Chief inspector Michael Flarty said that this was the work of a professional team. They were most probably from London. It had been perfectly executed. Billy smiled as he listened to the radio. The money was safely hidden in his wardrobe. His mother never went into his wardrobe without asking him. He’d rung Gillian every day since he got back. She was missing him terribly.’

“Not long now love he kept saying as he told her how he’d been in touch with an estate agency in Blackpool. They were now looking to find him and empty premises for sale. He told Danny of his plans and asked him to come with him but he would not leave Sally Freeman his girlfriend. “Bring her too said Billy.’

“I’ll think about it said Danny.’

“Look the next time you go visit Butch tell him there’s a job waiting for him at Gillian’s new bakery when he gets out.’

“Won’t you be going to see him like?’

“I’m going to be tied up with this new business project Danny; I won’t have time. I will write to him though.’

“I see said Danny.’

“Look it won’t be long before we are all going to be together again. You and Sally can come down to Blackpool for a holiday and we can put you up.’
